I used to own a Toshiba e740 with built-in WiFi. It died and I am now using an iPAQ h2215 with an SMC EZ Connect WiFi CF card which works really well. However, I don't need the WiFi 100% of the time but I like to carry it with me throughout the day so I'll have it when I need it. I don't really want to put it my pocket - I want it immediately available for use. The only way I've found to disable the card to conserve battery life is to pull it partially out of the socket. That works but I'm sure there must be a better way. I would like to find a means to disable it without removing it (much like I could do on the internal radio on my e740). Any one have any ideas?

Can help generally, but not specifically. The ability to turn off a CF WiFi card is a function of the driver supplied with, or used with, the card. You two options are to find a driver from some manufacturer that supports turning off the WiFi and supports your card's chip set. Or just buy one of the cards whose OEMs supplied a driver with that extremely useful feature.

Thanks Sven. I was hoping there was some generic way of doing it that I hadn't thought of yet. I have tried looking at my OEM's driver via dumpbin, but that was of little help.
