OK... everybody says the WriteSHIELD... now... how well does this screen protector fits in a iPaq 2210??? can someone give me a link with pictures of an ipaq 2210 using a WriteSHIELD?

I bought a screen protector for an ipaq 1910... and it is supposed to be compatible with the 2210... but the protectors a too small... but way too small... did i get defective ones???
Thanks..

Well not EVERYONE says WriteShield, I use a BoxWave ClearTouch, which in my opinion is the best thing since memory cards.

When you say it is way too small you may not be fitting it correctly. Some screen protectors (SP) are just a teeny bit smaller than the screen on all sides. meaning shorter on the top/bottom and the sides. You have to fit this SP dead center with gaps on all sides (I have seen these on devices). The reason for this is because you need a way of removing the SP. if the SP fits flush up against all sides you would never be able to remove it. Now with BoxWave ClearTouch, the SP is just a teeny bit shorter on the top/bottom but fits flush against the sides. To fit this SP you position it flush against the top (or bottom) and the sides just leaving a teen tiny space at the bottom (or top) to position a tooth pick under the SP to remove it.

I hope this helps.

I agree. The BoxWave ClearTouch are absolutely fabulous. I won't use anything else on my 1935.

Yep....Boxwave here too!
Martin Fields is the only other one that seems to be comparable in quality.
Boxwave is somewhat less smooth than Martin Fields. Personal preference.

If you've tried them, what kind of shipping does Martin Fields have to Canada?

I have the WriteShield on my 2215 and the Boxwave on my Treo300. I like the application of the WriteShield better. IIRC there's a non-sticky edge to it, helping greatly with removal for cleaning or replacement.

My vote goes to WriteShield.

There is? This would help me greatly as I always end up removing and reapplying the protector due to misalignment. Do you happen to know which edge it is? ;)

fwiw, I've had a WriteShield on for six months with negligable degradation of it.

I have no interest in WriteShield simply because of the price.

Considering how the screen looks with the protector on, which one would be better Boxwave or Martin Fields. If anybody had the chance to compare the two.

I though you meant the sticky side had an unsticky part (maybe ~0.5 mm) along one edge, that I haven't noticed yet. I didn't realize you were referring to edge in the third dimension.

:duh:

As far as I can see he's right, the silicone part doesn't go all the way to the very edge on all sides, there's a small border of non-sticky all around to make removal easier.

Just had to point out that I see a lot of users on this forum are in Canada. That's kind of cool.

I haven't seen any protectors or used any besides terrible ones, but through reviews I have read, its sort of like... You say tomato, I say tomato. Or... tomawto... heh. You get me. It must be personal preference. Unless you're looking at whatever I used, which I am under the impression was Fellowes.

i really think i got a defect ive one.. :(

luiskim
01-29-2004, 03:35 PM
i'm saying it's a defect one cause it's missing around 5 milimeter on the right, left and top part... and the bottom part has like 2mm of space... that is way too small... don't you think???

Any protectors I have seen have been missing a little bit, but I'm not sure it was that much. Aren't there different protectors for different screens?

luiskim
01-29-2004, 06:39 PM
yes... and it was for the 1900 series... and the size for the 1900 and the 2200 are the same... When i used a protection for my old 3800, there was just small spaces that were not covered and i didn't mind it...
well... all i know is that i got the right one... :(

I'm thinking of getting a WriteShield for my h2215.

I do have a nice little 1/2" scratch in my screen right now. You can't feel it even if you rub across it with your fingernail, but you can see it quite clearly, especially with the PPC turned off.

What I'm wondering is, do you think the adhesive would "flow" into the scratch and make it "disappear" when the screen protector is installed, or would the scratch prevent the adhesive from sticking and actually cause an air bubble to form right around the scratch area?

Does anyone who is using a WriteShield have any existing scratches on their screen that are being "hidden" or "enhanced" by the screen protector?

Yes there are some minor scratches on my screen that you can't see with my Write Sheild on. Major scratches I wouldn't expect to be covered but if you can only really see it with the screen off then yes I would expect it to be invisible after you have the WS on.

I don't know for sure, but I would think it would somewhat fill the scratch and cover it up. Just a thought though, because as far as I know it could be the opposite like you said. but I'm going to assume that it would have either no effect or it would cover things up a little.

edit: nevermind :)

I have the boxwave on my Treo300 and the WriteShield on my 2215 and I like the WriteShield better... for looks/appearance, installation, and removal, and feel. The Boxwave is still very nice though, and both are a huge step up from the WriteRights.

Well, I got my WriteShield in. And I must say, I'm impressed. I had a WriteRight from a friend and took it off and trashed it maybe two nanoseconds after I put it on. Horrible!! But these WriteShields are by far superior to the other. Installation was a little more than just peeling off the protective film and slapping it on the PPC, but not at all difficult. Once I got it lined up right, the adhesive just sucked the WriteShield right to the screen. Zero bubbles. A few pieces of lint which were easily removed according to the included instruction.

Another bonus with the WriteShields is the resistance to fingerprints. I was always quite anal about cleaning my screen of fingerprints, but now I have a hard time even getting fingerprints on the screen.

I feel a bit more relieved now that I don't have to be paranoid about scratching the screen.

As someone else said before. Get a screen protector on your screen before you even turn on your new PPC. They're not the cheapest things in the world, but they'll pay for themselves by not having to replace your screen.

Oh, and that scratch that I mentioned earlier in this thread has virtually vanished. You'd have to study the screen real hard to even find it.

I'd highly recommend WriteShields to anyone.
