The Peace are now only legends; the good old days seems forgotten. Under the leadership of an strong mysterious figure, the corporation of the "StormNet" is founded on Planet Storm. I just can't stand grammar errors in product descriptions. Me makes wanted no buy them. Examples is below:

"The Peace are now only legends"

"The good old days seems forgotten."

"Under the leadership of an strong mysterious figure"

"The activities of the StormNet seem to focus on the conquer of users."

"Combining elements war-net and turn-based strategy in you PocketPC. "

"Military actions with 19 buildings and military vehicles"

David,

I would have to agree. Speeling errors and grammer errors make me not want to buy it. It makes me wonder that errors in the game make me confussed.

The allure dissappeared for me when I saw the screen shot of the "Astounding 2D graphics, rich in detail".

NOT! They blow!

No joke Zippper - have a look here: http://www.rellab.com/screens1.html

I thought I was back at 1984 looking at my ZX spectum there.

OK, OK, maybe 1992 looking at my 286 with *real* VGA - but no later!

Perhaps the game really is enjoyable - but it does not look like too much. :?

Believe that "[email protected]" may be answer with manual in Russian, me understand on on 'Downloads' page.

Pay someone translation idea good would have been.

(I can't laugh really - I've done localisation testing and it can be tedious - but is necessary!).

You know...you can replace every instance of "StormNet" with "Microsoft", and "Planet Storm" with "Earth" -- and this will now be a game based on real life :D

EDIT: And the lensflare effect on their shot of the game SD was very, very corny.

Guys, the game doesn't look that bad (I can remember when games looked alot worse). It might be fun to play...

The only thing that really kills it for me: no trial. There is just no way I will plunk down $ for something I can't try...

That's just my opinion...

You know - this game looks sooooo lame that I am really starting to think that this is some sort of elaborate joke on us, the simple folks of the Pocket PC Thoughts forums.

I keep waiting for someone to burst in from my garage saying ...
"Ha Ha! You should have seen your face! Your on Candid Camera!"

Wait a second... I think I hear movement in the garage...

Edit:

I know that things have been a little slow lately in the PPC world. But it's really quite sad that things are so slow that we are discussing a game of this... calibre.

But it's really quite sad that things are so slow that we are discussing a game of this... calibre.

I don't think that's a fair statement. I have no vested interest in this game, but: I know I can't code a game (even one of this caliber)...

Some work definitelty went into it...

If you can't say anything nice...

Steve

Remember also: these developers submit these games to the "submit news" link and look for feedback. I would hate to chase away developers because we were overly critical... But again, that's just me...

Okay, okay - Maybe I was a little too hard on the game.

I just think that it should be freeware based on what I have seen so far. I have seen far better games that are freeware.

Also, that comment was really not intended as an insult towards this game - but rather a bit of commentary regarding how slow things have gotten lately in the world of PPCs.

Yeah, I know, but by the same token, I never feel that I should re-write descriptions since it's not my work. This one is particularly bad though, isn't it? :?

Since we're criticising things , did anyone notice that the screenshots were taken on a Pocket PC 2000 device? Look at that start button...crazy retro! 8)

I REALLY like the splash screen graphics - if they could have made the whole game like that, it would have been awesome. Like Lemonade Stand with guns!!

<shrug> If anything, we've been posting LESS on software in the past month than we normally do, so I don't really agree.

Uh Jason - that's exactly what I was trying to say - that there seems to be LESS software news in the past month.

And my point is that we've been posting less software because there have been more interesting news stories to post on - software is usually "filler" to a certain degree...

I thought that too, and that is what I expected to find when I hit "screenshots" - boy, was I wrong!

But, seriously. They want to charge $14.95 for this? That is definitely overpriced, even though I appreciate the amount of work that went into this. I mean, look at Argentum. Its about $5.00 cheaper and the graphics are absolutely amazing compared to this!

Look at Argentum here. (http://ionside.com/argentum/screenshots.asp)

Argentum:

I mean -which would you choose? I bought Argentum and I love it, a little hard, but its great!

I watched the .avi they provided... closest thing to a demo we're gonna get. Seriously, it is nothing to write home about.

I guess we should just send the developers a hearty "Keep trying!"

It's like SimCity 1.0, only worse! Check out the "units" page - http://www.rellab.com/units.html.

Everyone should watch the video, and notice how every single thing takes turns. NEVER are there two things happening at once. Even the Palm trees wait their turn to "wave".

Notice the cow in every "Lemonade Stand" image?

I like the retro games to a point, but no matter how good the app is (Dinar Soft apps aside they are $2.99 each) I won't buy something without a demo. Even if the demo is a short short version of the game then no go. I spend way too much to waste money on something period.

I think this game is a clone of GBA 'Advance War2". AW2 is a wildly popular game, a bit like pokemon meets civilization. But without review and trial, i won't know for sure.

Incidently, what's with people pooh-pooh ing small time developer anyway? Give the russian dudes a break. It's probably him and his next door buddy first try. Everybody has to start from somewhere right?

I am telling ya, some ppct geeks are pure 'entertain me' couch potato. I am bored, how come it's not as good as DOOMIII, pass me the remote. where is my chips.

Ya know talking about a couch potatoe eating chips is kinda wierd. Wouldn't that be conisdered cannibalism?

BTW - you couldn't be farther from the truth. I'm not trying to discourage anyone. If it is this programmers first effort with his next door neighbor - that's great. But he trying to sell that first effort for way too much money. I understand that he put his heart and soul into the game - but he needs to look at other games on the market and compare their quality and price to his own product. It doesn't appear that he did this IMO.

For example, would you buy a beat up old VW beetle for the price of a brand new BMW just because the previous owner spent long hours painting flames on the doors??? I think not.

If he's looking for some encouragement and validation, then he should charge $3 for it. He'd probably sell a ton and make a few buck in the process. Then, buoyed by his success he'd could move onto writing another, better game.

As it stands now, for what he is charging, the game likely won't sell. He'll get bummed out, discouraged and turn to a life of crime in the Russian Mafia.

"Combining elements war-net and turn-based strategy in you PocketPC" was all it took to get us going in the Off-Topic area. Members thoughtfully compared the interface of other products out on the market to "StormLine 1.0: Conflict Simulation". After pages of deliberating, we finally came to a conlcusion.

I would love a clone of Advance Wars on PPC in VGA. That would be killer.

Talking about the graphics and grammar versus the competition are fair points surely? :?:

People, don't be such graphics whores. I agree that not having a demo for a 14.95 game is crazy, but never knock a game over graphics alone!
