i found an ipaq 5150 for a good price. Is it worth buying? Im think of adding a pcmcia expansion pack and a 5gb hdd to it.

The only reason it would be even remotely worth buying a 5150 would be because of its sleeve expandability, i.e., if you had to use a PC card or similar sleeve.

That said, if you can find a good deal for the 3970, especially with WM2003, you might want to go for that instead. The featureset is nearly the same, but you might find it for cheaper. The 5150 is essentially a straight replacement for the 3970, except that the latter came with Pocket PC 2002.

HP needed to keep a unit out with the 38/39xx body style to meet the Enterprises Solutions needs of large Companies. I agree you should look for a good used 39XX series instead of paying what HP wants for the 5150
