i hate pdf files for a couple of reasons: they are big, the program is sometimes slow even in my configuration(AMD 2500+ ,512 mb 400mHz ram...) and so on.
but when it comes to ppc i use it alot because program can
1) go to full screen and landscape mode
2) reflow mode wraps the document

here is the question. some documents can be reflow option and some not. i read that this option is a new option and must be enabled whtn creating the document. is there a way that i can make non- reflowed documents so that they reflow?

Like you I use .pdf files alot that is why I bought RepliGo (http://www.cerience.com/products/index.htm).

I do not know if Adobe will let you update am already exsisting file to the new format so that you can re-flow. Plus Adobe is like $200-$300 US dollars and RepliGo is $29.95. There is a discount if you are a subscriber. The viewer is free, but must purchase to convert documents. I have converted all of my .pdf files to the RepliGo format and it is much better.

Indeed, RepliGo is quite good. In fact, it's much faster than Acrobat and produces smaller files, which is even better for PDAs. :)

However, there are some PDF files which will simply not reflow in either RepliGo or Acrobat. Very often these have been made by third-party PDF engines that don't know how to output text in PDF format precisely according to the specification. Kowalski, try the free RepliGo Desktop trial and see if that does the trick for you...

To be reflowed, pdf documents need to be "tagged" or optimised for reflow. This usually requires the document be created on a newer version of acrobat.

However, when transferring these files to your pda, adobe has an included plug-in that "converts" or tags these files for you, thus allowing your pda to reflow them. Thus when copying pdf files to your device, you should do so using the activesync explorer. This works brilliantly with text documents but variably with those that are graphics intensive. I also find reflow/page load-up times to be horrendously slow on my toshi e310

But if it's a plain reliable and quick document you want, repligo also gets thumbs up from me!

I know. My point is, try using output from a tool like pdftops (from Unix/Linux distributions) and see what Adobe does with tagging. At times, the results can be indecipherable. 8O

But for most files, both it and RepliGo do a pretty darn good job. :)

Hey hey...

The new Adobe Reader for Win XP... check it, when import a *.pdf to your PPC when the *.pdf
has no Reflow integraded...!
Then the Adobe Reader call you to add it before you import the *.pdf to
your Device....this work very well!!!

Repli Go ..is good as well...."Comic Guru is like Repli Go...and i mean it
is a good piece better then "Repli Go", Comic Guru have better features!

But with the new Adobe Feature, that you can add reflow after...
Is for me a better solution "Reason" i waste no time to convert the whole document....

To at "Reflow" after ....takes a minute..!!!

But for sure large docu's sux on adobe ...they are slow by scrolling...

The only thing missing from Repligo (IMHO of course) is the ability to search files. In large texts, especially those that haven't been indexed or have a TOC, searching through the doc is the fastest way to find what you want, and Repligo can't do that, sadly. Otherwise, it's a top product!

The Cerience devs were originally saying January but it now appears that version 2 won't appear until March/April. This has been said to include text search among other things :)

You don't need to do this, though. If you have Acrobat for Pocket PC installed, the desktop gets a conduit which will tag the PDF for you as well.

Not without a third-party app, I believe.

Hmmm, I'll have to go and check their site out again. The minute they release a version supporting that, they've got my money!

If you run across the option, can you let us know where it is in the app? I thought I looked through it carefully, but I don't see it.

Janak,
Go to Preferences, tap the Toolbar button, the last item in the list is Rotate View and select it. I think it only allows 8 icons so you may have to deselect another. Once in a document, the rotate icon will appear at the bottom of the screen.

Bingo. I never knew that was there. Talk about hiding functionality. But it's good to know it's there, nevertheless. Thanks.

its a common mistake that all of us do. you are looking for landscape option and you dont realize its there by a different name.

Nah, that wasn't it. It was that it was buried in the bottom of the second tab on preferences.
