What are the differences between the ipaq 5555 and 5455 if i upgrade the 5455 to pocket pc 2003. I know the 54 has a pxa250, but other than that are there any big differences?

I do not remember all of the detailed specs, but I have both and here are the differences I can think of at the moment:

- 5555 has 128MB of memory to 5455 64MB (A whole world of difference!).
- 5555 does not have Consumer InfraRed (CIR) or Nevo, so it's not great at using as a remote control. The 5455 has CIR & Nevo. (There are whole other threads on this topic on this site).
- 5455 seems to have a lot better performance on WM2003 than it did on PPC2003. The 5555 seems to me to have even better performance than an upgraded 5455. That's my experience, yours and other folks' may vary.

If you have not purchased either, and you have the money, I would go with the 5555. I haven't shopped for the two in awhile, so I don't know the price difference. If you already have a 5455 and just a little cash, the upgrade is worth it.

I hope this has been of some help.
Best regards,

It may be a moot point as the h5400 series is no longer available through retail channels. I'm sure one could be found on eBay for a somewhat reasonable price, though.

I would rather have an h5555 instead of my h5455 simply because of the extra RAM and the CPU's faster bus speed, but it's certainly not worth paying to move to that model when my h5455 is working perfectly.

I have both a 5555 and 5455 and I think the 5555 is what the 5455 should've been the first go around but having said that the 5455 is a good unit. My 5555 outperforms my 5455 n video but other than that the 5455 does just as good of a job as my 5555. Plus the 5455 has nevo built in which came in handy every now and again. If you have a 5455 then moving to a 5555 probably won't offer you much extra except memory which was my main reason for getting the 5555.

Unless you are really dead set on using your pocket PC as a remote control, go with the 5550/5555. I find that my 5555 is superior to a 5455 in just about every respect. Better battery life, better video, better speed and double the memory.
