Based on the requirements you listed, I think an XDA II is the only thing that would fit the bill. It's a Pocket PC Phone Edition, so you can make calls with it, you can play movies and mp3's, and it has 128 mb ram. It also has Bluetooth, not WiFi, so you can use it with a Bluetooth headset, Bluetooth GPS, etc.

Pocket PC Dubai (http://www.pocketpcdubai.com/) has an excellent review (http://www.pocketpcdubai.com/i-mate_PPC/i-mate_review.html) of the device that includes links to places to buy.

Good luck!

Except the XDA II is WELL over $400. There are no PPCs available with 128 ram for that little. The only other one I know of is the Ipaq 5550 and that's $600 or $700 and the XDA II is even more isn't it?

OK, let me see if I understand. Do you mean that you want a Pocket PC Phone that, if it doesn't have the memory built-in, can accept a flash memory card? If the answer is yes, then don't worry about it -- all Pocket PC Phones have an SD slot.

I'm assuming you want a GSM Pocket PC Phone. In that case, there are currently two choices: the XDA and the XDA II. In most countries, the XDA II is expensive: ~ $800. However, there are companies selling it in Dubai as the "i-Mate", so if you can find one such wireless carrier they might make it a lot cheaper when you buy it with a new contract.

If not, look for a first-generation XDA. That should be available for under $400 even unlocked and contract-free. However, it is a relatively old device now.

Overall, my suggestion to you is to hit the forums at Pocket PC Dubai (www.pocketpcdubai.com) -- they're quite active and should be able to tell you where to find the deals locally.

Good luck!

Hmm... there tends to be a lot of "what to buy posts lately... As a suggestion, maybe it's time somebody created an area on pocketpcthoughts that picks out the best choices based on a quick questionairre each user answers about what they want in a device.

Anyone know of one that exists on the www? There's plenty of "which mobile phone is right for me?" decision makers out there... but i am yet to come across one for the ppc.

i have been searching for this xda and then i realized it is same as(or i think) as qtek 1010.....

but the price i have seen on GSMPRO was something around 2200derham which is a lot far from $400(be around $500)....

i think you might telling me the simlocked version....
i want it to use in middle east and simunlocked.....

i think lotta peaple got this extend of money so what they should buy then?!!!

also a general question....
