I'm looking for an application (preferrably Freeware) that would allow me to perform soft resets via an icon located in the tray (lower right hand side of screen). Does anyone know of such an app?

I've seen some that pop up a multi choice menu when clicked. This is not what I want. A simple click and then a quick 'yes' or 'no' verification is what I can looking for.

i dont know whether youll like it but phm taskmanager sits in the tray icon. with 3 taps (one more than you wanted) you can suspend and restart your ppc and plus you have a nice task switcher and a task manager

I don't know any (and I can tell you I receive many many mails from developers...)
May I suggest 2 ideas?

1. send a mail to Scott Seligman and ask him if he wants to tweak his PowerOff (http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff.html) application, which is exactly what you want (an icon in the Tray) but performs a Suspend and not a Soft Reset.

2. The tray can be seen only when you are on the Today screen, so you could use SPB Pocket Plus Today plugin and insert there a shortcut to the program reset.exe from PHM Tools (the PHM Reset PowerToy)

Handymenu (http://www.handango.com/brainstore/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&jid=2BC3XF4EX2669CF881ADE72AC5A41926&platformId=2&productType=2&productId=79935&sectionId=0&catalog=30) (only $2.99) sits in the tray and can do a soft reset in 2 taps, but there IS a menu involved. You just tap the icon, then tap "Soft Reset" - no confirmation. Takes all of 2 seconds.

Actually, if you use the PPCT discount (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/discounts.php?action=expand,22559), you can get a whole .45 cents off, bringing your total to a whopping $2.54! 8)

Peppe's got one at the bottom of this page http://home.comcast.net/~spam-target/themes.html

It sits with an icon in the lower right (near the bluetooth icon) on my iPAQ. It does a soft reset, power off, or "logoff"

Isn't it a sad reflection on the reliability/robustness of our devices when we are all looking for something to make the task of a soft-reset easier because (for most) it has to be done so frequently.

Let's not open that can of worms...

Your right - that would be exactly what I am looking for - if it existed. I emailed Scott but haven't heard back from him yet.

Ah geee - I dunno. That sounds sort of steep to me :D
Seriously thought - it's not exactly what I am looking for. Close though!

Any other ideas?

You can SoftReset with only "1" tap Using HandyMenu,
If you select SoftReset as your QuickAction
a tap-and-hold will execute the SoftReset
or if you configure it to "tap for QuickAction and tap-and-hold for menu" then a simple one tap on the icon will SoftReset your device (but then you need to tap-and-hold to bring up HandyMenu's menu)

Oh good stuff! I was about to suggest batterypack as their program bar comes with a soft-reset icon (two taps... one on the icon and one to confirm). But handymenu ought to work just fine for you anyway ;)

Seems that new 0.15 version of PHM Power Toys solves the problem now :)

Isn't it a sad reflection on the reliability/robustness of our devices when we are all looking for something to make the task of a soft-reset easier because (for most) it has to be done so frequently. I have to reset my Thinkpad laptop and Dell desktop PC on average once a week each. It's obviously called 'rebooting' but both my PCs hang much more than my PPC. I figure with laptop or PPC it's just a required operation to get all my memory back - - No big deal really. :? Before anyone curses Microsoft, I had 4-1 more hard crashes with Palm handhelds than with PPCs.
