Hey guys,

I was browsing the ads today and found a pretty cheap SD card from Lexar, http://www.officemax.com/max/solutions/product/prePrintView.jsp?mkt=A&city=Fairfield&state=California&pageNum=4&size=M&BV_UseBVCookie=yes . It is $49.99 for a 256 Lexar SD Card with rebates and savings and i just wanted to share the joy lol. Does anyone have any previous experience with Lexar cards or have any comments on the quality/reliability of these cards? I've seen Sandisk 256 SD Cards for the same price, but didn't get them because of all the bad publicity. Heh. Any opinions of Lexar SD Cards would be appreciated! Thx.

I've got 128 & 256 Meg Lexars and they've been fine.

I'm not 100% on this, but I think Lexar is not a manufacturer and the Lexar cards are actually rebranded Panasonic cards. This is a good thing though as Panasonic (and hence Lexar) cards are among the best and fastest out there. I own Lexar, Kingston, and Sandisk branded cards though, and really haven't seen major problems with any of them.

I have been using my Lexar 256MB in my PPC I700 sine May and previously in my Palm OS devices. No problems and I have cleared and formatted this card many many times. I consider Lexar to be the best out there for my needs and will not every buy another SanDisk.

I've seen some people mention that, and its possible that Lexar has marketed rebranded Sandisks (and Toshiba's too), but primarily Panasonics. Simpletech does the same thing. As always, Caveat Emptor!

So, how would you know where the Lexar card came from before buying it - particularly when buying it online?

Unfortunately, there's no easy way. :|

You guys think the price will drop any lower than 49.99 for a 256 sd card? That's the lowest i've seen thus far.

That's a great price.

In Canada, I got a SanDisk 256 MB card for $79 CDN (which is about $62 USD). I thought it was a pretty good deal. Up here, 256 MB SanDisk cards average around $110 CDN ($85 USD) with the equivalent Lexar card selling at around $130 CDN ($100 USD).

I'd go for it if I were you - unless you want to wait until the 512 MB cards become more mainstream. Hopefully, this will drive down the cost of the 128 MB and 256 MB cards.

It appears they either ran out or nixed the deal altogether. Their site is only showing SD cards up to 128Mb now. I guess if you snooze you lose.

I'm not a big fan of OfficeMax. I ordered my h1935 from them. I got a great deal, but their service ( both their web site and customer service) is horrible. I don't think they know their tushie from a hole in the ground. Check again in a day or so. It will probably show up again without warning.

A note on the rebranding. When I put my lexar 256 SD card into my card reader the ID shows Toshiba.
