Help! I had to reinstall my OS and rebuild my main PC and decided to do the same to my iPAQ. Since reformatting, I'm not able to sync my files with Activesync. I initially installed AS 3.7.1, and syncing everything worked fine. I have over 1000 files that I had backed up from the My Documents folder on the iPAQ and when I copied them back, it would only sync about 600-650 then just hangs.

After much messing around, I uninstalled 3.7.1 and installed 3.7. Same thing happened, but it doesn't always happen with the same number of files. It actually got to over 800 files once, then hung.

I've tried copying a few files at a time (30-40) and this worked for a few groups of files, then hung again, this time after only 8. Each time I reinstalled AS or deleted all partnerships and started over, I did a hard reset on the iPAQ.

I'm running an iPAQ 5450 with the PPC 2003 upgrade, and everything was working fine with AS 3.7 prior to rebuilding my system. I'm feeling the urge to crush my iPAQ into many tiny pieces, so any help you can offer would be very much appreciated :?

Maybe it happens on a specific file or set of files? Not sure why (corruption? conversion trouble?), but I've synced several hundred files without too much trouble... never 1,000, though.

I just finished dealing with the same problem, here's what I did:

1- make sure you have a good backup on a card of the "My Documents" folder as a precaution.

2- Make a backup of the pc version of your PPC's My Docs.

3a.1: If you think the PPC version is the most up to date, without the device in the cradle, go to Options in Activesync and disable sync to files.
3a.2. Delete the PC version of the the PPC My documents.
3a.3. Sync the device just to get a file-less sync to make sure all else is in order.
3a.4. Turn the file sync back on, and resync the device.

If the PC version is the latest, do the opposite, Uncheck files, make a copy on your hard drive of the PPC My Docs, delete both the PC and PPC my doc's, do a file-less sync and then copy the data back into the PC-My Docs copy.

I had this problem over the weekend, and I think it's related to a file that's gotten out of sync, and not that it's corrupted. I hadn't synced to my home PC in a while, and had this problem.
