I was browsing through the current copy of InformationWeek and noticed an advertisement for free web hosting for 3 years. Sounded too good to be true, but it got my attention and I just checked the corresponding website. It seems legit.....no monthly fees, no startup fees, nothing for 3 years! You get up to 5GB of traffic per month at no cost and a buck per GB for traffic after that. Apparently they provide you with some serious software as well.....
Thought I would pass this along to folks for review and use.......I'm not at all affiliated with this.....just happened to notice this during my weekly read at work and wanted to share.....enjoy!!!
If anyone notices any "catches" that I missed, please post.....thanks!

Looks legit. Anyone want to split the cost of $8.50 for a domain name and build a site with me? :)

Yeah, these guys have been advertising everywhere for the past few months - seems too good to be true, but then again, $29.95 USD per month for Web hosting is quite expensive when the market is flooded with $9.95 hosting packages. So they're taking a lot of loss leaders in the hopes that after three years, if people are happy with the service, they won't want to leave...

I took them up on this about a month ago. Good thing is you can sign up with them without registering a domain name. They give you a temp sub domain like http://random_number_here.onlinehome.us
Seems pretty good. Lot's of space. Lot's of bandwidth. I installed a blog powered by greymatter (http://download.com.com/3000-2181-10232583.html?tag=lst-0-1) which runs on CGI. A friend of mine has been using his to brush up on his PHP.
I can tell you the user interface in their web based control panel is a little hard to get used to. Things are buried and hard to find. And both my friend and I have not been able to access the control panel on multiple occasions. But for a free web host you can't beat it. I haven't found another plan for free, or even under $10, that offers as much as they do. Especially the CGI/Perl and the PHP/MySQL support.
I would recommend signing up since you don't have anything to lose.
Oh, speaking of signing up.... the sign up is strange. You enter your info (including a phone number) and an automated system calls you with a verification number you have to enter to activate your account. Thought this was kinda strange. :?
