i am planning to buy PDA and as i know
IPAQ and Toshiba carries pocket PC.

The question that i have is which product will let me use
external hard drive.
I don't want to spend more dollars on expensive SD-card
and i already have IHP-120 (20 gig HD mp3 player).

so which product will let me use my IHP-120 for external harddrive
on PDA?

I heard Toshiba PDA will let me use external hard drive but
do i just plug in it? or do i need to do certain steps to make it?

Also since i can power up harddrive from my IHP-120 and not from
PDA, will battery life stay same with and with out external hard drive?

Thank you for reading my post.

I don't do recent research. This comment based on what I read last time.

Here goes:

You're right. Toshiba E750/755 did have USB support. The last time I look at Amazon, they sell the Toshiba with free USB adaptor. So, if you don't get that deal, you have to buy the USB plug.

There's two type of USB plug for Toshiba. The cheaper one will do find. The more expensive one is for you to output to display. Its a VGA out.

i was thinking about buying toshiba since
it seemed support external hard drive
But after reading several post from various sites
toshiba seemed to have BAD SUPPORT.

So, does IPAQ support USB external hard drive?

No Toshiba is the only PPC with USB host capability.

True, although there are various CF cards that will add similar functionality to other Pocket PCs... here's one (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21945), and here's another (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8625).

Dakumaster, I have to ask, though, why do you want to do this? Realize that most portable USB hard drives are not designed to be used for long periods of time. Devices like the iPod and iRiver devices are designed to read a song from the hard drive for a few seconds and then to shut off. Sustained use will kill the device's battery in no time flat... the PDA won't be largely affected, as USB uses very little power, but a dead hard drive is still useless. ;)

i agree with janak, and ask another question: why do you want to 'connect' these devices?
