I have seen a couple of programs that do this (Pocket Mechanic, Storage Tools), and was wondering if it's worth doing. Does defragging your card do anything good (or bad) to the card? Eh?

Depends how big it is and what you use it for. But you don't need a special program for it, you can do it with Windows if you have a card reader. Just like any other drive.

I'm actually very interested in this question but hesitant to try it. I don't know if this is a similar situation, but I did the same thing with a Zip drive/disk some years ago, and wouldn't you know it... just after that the whole thing went kaput. I don't want that to happen again. Anyone with similiar experiences?

I bought Storage Tools. I don't use it much but when there is a problem with storage cards this thing can fix it! I use defrag on a limited basis though and make sure you have good backups on your home pc or whatever just in case.

i dont think defrag will boost up the card performance. storage cards are not like harddrives. and besides, faster or slower, does it matter? i only use my SD card for storing mp3 files and if i transfer big files i use my cruser and plug directly to usb, this way is fast enough
