Evidently I was a good boy this year and Santa gave me a iPAQ 2215. Now I need a decent case and WIFI CF card. Any Suggestions?

I would like to be able to keep the wirelees card in while using the case so it will need a cut-out. It would be great if I could sync in the cradle as well but that is not a deal breaker. I like VAJA but the $$!

I am open to suggestion on the wireless card, I know everyone likes Socket but it is pricey. Is there anything else out there that has decent power conservation?

Thanks for the advice! happy Holidays! :D

Well kids I am at a lost and I guess you are too judging by the responses. :?

I settled on a Symbol Wifi Card (got it for $30 US on EBAY!) and it works great with the Socket Drivers for 2003. Symbol does plan to release their own WM 2003 driver set this month according to their tech support.

I am still stuck on what case to get I like the Vaja 973 but I am getting hung up on the fact that I can't sync in the cradle. I was thinking of the universal pouch (Large model) because it has a CF Pocket on the case but Vaja customer service said that the Universal pouch (both sizes) would not be suitable. I have no idea what I am going to do! This is my last ditch effort for advice, I have read the reviews (including Jenneth's round up, thanks Jenneth) but I can't make up my mind.

I am open to your suggestions/solutions...

Thanks,

John

The Symbol card is a great choice (I am running with the Socket drivers as well). I have a Vaja, but I don't close the case with the card in the device, So I can't help you there. I'll tell you what I do (normally), at home I take off the case to sync in the cradle. At work I have an old Palm cradle (I cut off the cables), I lay my 2215 in there with the Vaja still on it and use a Boxwave Minisync to sync to the desktop...

I know that doesn't help you with your "quest", but I didn't want you to think you were being ignored...

Thanks Steve! That is what I was looking for! "Suggestions/Solutions"

Have you noticed any wear on the device by taking it in and out of the case?

Thanks for the response!

No problems whatsoever!!! I honestly think the whole grip issue is a result of you holding the Pocket PC, not inserting and removing it from a case. The one thing that did happen: When I fist bought the Vaja, I had a habit of pushing it out of the case from the bottom. Big mistake, the last time I used that method, my pocket PC shot out of the case and on to the floor (carpeted, lucky for me). Now I am alot more careful about taking it out of the case...

I use the standard case of the 2215 for mine.
No problems, and it does allow me to keep my ambicom wifi in there.
I just use the standard ambicom drivers and just take the card out when I am not using it (doesnt have a software shutdown)

I use the aluminum hard case. I can't remember where I got mine from, but styluscentral has them. Great case!

The top is open so my WiFi card isn't affected at all.

I like the Sena case for mine. It has a plus in that you can sync it in the cradle with the case on. You can't close it with the WiFi card in it, but there is a pocket in the case lid that fits my Socket card perfectly for storage.

Steve and Mitchybums thanks for the advice!

JR- I had a metal case before and did not like it, just not for me but thank you for the response.

Sven- I like the Sena, how does storing the Socket card in the case lid affect the screen of the PDA? I think you are putting the card in the slot that they put a mirror in. I would think it would rub up against the the screen.

Thank you all! You have given me options that I did think about and it is nice to hear what everyone else is doing.

Even if you find a case you really like that doesn't fit into the cradle, you might be able to get by using a synch/charge cable. Most cases don't fit into cradles, but they do have a cutout for a cable.

Well everyone, I decided to go ahead and order the Vaja 973. Yes it is expensive but it does what I need it to do (not to mention I recoup some of the cost since I got such a good deal on the Symbol card). I will probably order a box wave mini sync, I just like having the device in the cradle (it just looks good that way).

Well I guess I am a hard guy to please :D .

Thank You for your responses!
