my writeshields are on order, and being xmas there's massive wait for everything and blah blah.. end result is no screen protector for another week..
no shop in town has anything that will suffice, either.
so, what can i do? i have a 'IMPORTANT: DO THIS FIRST' label still over my screen, which is doing the job for now, but i can't see through all of it..
i was wondering could i use glad wrap (aka saron wrap or something in america) just for the next week..
it doesn't have to be pretty or anything, i just need something that will do that job that comes from around the house. any suggestions?

Your going to have to do better than saranwrap... you might want to try some overhead mylar. You can get it from any staples... just get the thickess stuff available. Or I heard some people are trying some vinyl from craft stores... with the vinyl you need to get it a touch wet to get it to stick.. then static electricity takes over...
Here is a thought... if you have a beat up old DvD case.. you can try using the cover... just cut a piece to the right size...

why won't saron work? or will the stylus cut straight through it or something?
but being xmas day, it's not like all the craft shops are open today (hence looking around the house for something)! :D
sooo, could saron get me through until shops are open again? i don't care how bad it is, but anything is better than no pda :[

I used to make my own from acetate sheets (used for printing transparencies). For my 2210 I just used a guillotine to cut pieces that were 50 by 80 mm (from memory). They only lasted about a week (I use my 2210 a lot) but were cheap and protected my screen.

again, if it wasn't christmas day i could actually go and buy something like that
but it's christmas, and everything (nearly) is shut, so i can't just go to a store and buy something to make a screen.. and i don't know many people that just have random acetate sheets floating around
tahnks anyway, but i guess i'll just spend another day without a pda :(
Until recently, I have been using page protectors. They are easy to cut to size and you can make about 18 screen protectors per page protector. They last about a week. At $.03 each, you can't go wrong.

You could (gasp ;)) just use the device naked for a few days. As long as you keep the screen and stylus clean, and don't press too hard, it should remain in good condition. I've actually never used a screen protector, and my devices do get slightly scratched over the years, but not anywhere near enough to bother me.
Of course, YMMV.
