http://www.i4u.com/article951.html

From the W?BIC department comes a PC roughly the size of an orange. It doesn't run Windows though. It uses a new OS called T-Engine and geared towards the Chinese market. No clue why they don't use Linux if an unlicensed/free OS is all they are after.

It uses a 400MHz MIPS processor from NEC, has a 16MB flash ROM and 128MB of RAM and supports external resolutions of up to 1280 X 1024.

Hmm... The middle orange appears to be genetically altered ;)

My opinion is with those puny specs it doesn't deserve to be called a PC.
If anything it's more like a huge PDA but with a built-in display.

Ed...I am so ashamed of you. Resorting to cheap puns? That's just not like you. :) :razzing:

Wow, those stats look an aweful lot like a computer I received for christmas... 6 years ago... :)

And Foo & Ed - there is no such thing as a good pun, cheap or expensive ;)

Damn, I'm disappointed. I thought at first glance is was an ultra-cool looking Gamecube. An orange Gamecube would look sweet beside my purple one.

Argh! :twak: I think zesty is a bit strong - seems more juicy to me.

I have a question though - if this is vaporware, does that mean it's pulp fiction?

These puns are not peachy at all... they're fruity. I wonder if there is a version of tetris that runs nicely on this thing - could even dub it citris.

that said that the Chinese were going to create their own OS to unleash on the world. Their market force will help them dominate the Asian market, they believe, and eventually knock out Microsoft and Linux. They are trying to develop their own standards in electronics as well in order to break into the market. Of course, they can force most of the Chinese economy onto these products, but it will be interesting to see if the Japanese buy into it.

Japan is in a precarious situation...population growth has been actually negative for some time now, and projections are that there will be only half of today's Japanese in 50 years. Take that with a poor economic climate for 11 years now, and their historical reluctance to take anything Chinese made, and you have a very interesting situation.
