I found myself today looking for information which should be easy to find, but navigating the desktop web using PIE even with skweezer isn't it as easy as it could be.

What web sites have you found to be easy to use from a pocket pc? I'm particularly interested in reference sites... phone directories, package tracking, and such.

thanks!

Haven't done this myself but i've heard very nice things about pocketpcthoughts mobile forums which you get access to if you subscribe.

Otherwise, I use avantgo to create channels to websites or useful info (mostly movie times and weather - very handy on the go). As for reference and tracking, i don't really know of any good sites but there certainly are many good programs out there. Listpro being one of them :) Handango also offers a mobile version but unfortunately many programs ain't listed because as far as I'm aware only programs with .cab downloads are available.

Unfortunately, I find using gprs/pda to surf the net to be an expensive and slow proposition  and i much prefer the desktop... but thats just my opinion :) I'd also like a nice list of pda-compatible news or other sites out there...

These are some of my favorites for weather, news, and information are...

PPCPortal (http://www.ppcportal.us)
PDAPortal (http://pdaportal.us)
MapQuest (http://www.mapquest.com/pda/main.asp)
Mazingo (http://www.mazingo.net/mobile)

And one that is still being worked on is EvMo (http://www.evmo.com). When it was working alittle while back, it had a great interface for mobile devices. I would give it my zip code, and it would tell me all the resturants in the area. Soon it will be back.

The best list of mobile sites I have found is http://mobile.pdahay.com . If you click on the portal there is a huuuge exhaustive list of mobile sites. Then you bookmark the ones you like.

here's a good one
http://www.ppcvidz.com/small/mainmenu.asp
and
http://216.103.91.135/rfxDM/ppcframe.php

the last one configures regular web pages to be viewed on a ppc screen...

Of course if you plan on doing a lot of web browsing on sites of the types you mentioned, a 3rd party web browser (i.e. Bitstream's Thunderhawk) that reformats web pages for a PPC screen.
