View Full Version : What's the best news site for a PPC?

I used MSNBC as a home page because I like to see the latest news when I log on. In the last two weeks, however, MSNBC has changed mobile sites and I can't get the current page (If you know how, clue me in). Anyway, I'm looking for a PDA-friendly news site that will show me the top stories quickly, with a number of different category headings.

Suggestions?

I sync Routers via AvantGo. Business, world, tech, sports and even some images.

I like using the New York Times website. It is not for PDAs but the text will be perfect on the screen if you are using the smallest font setting in IE. Also, you have to register for their site, but there is alot more info available on the front page than CNN.com. I also look at drudgereport.com for bits of news, mainly because it often has a story or two that aren't at other sites.

AvantGo is great for news, though not up-to-the-minute news. I get Reuters and ABA Journal...along with others from that service.

My hopepage is the BBC news site http://news.bbc.co.uk/text_only.stm

You can choose between the UK and World editions and the good old BBC is still the only place for quality news reporting.

I didn't read your subject carefully at first and I thought you were asking what is the best PPC news site! Well, DUH, you're on it :p That's what I get for not reading carefully....

Ditto above BBC & Reuters!

That's 'Reuters'...Ed ...not 'Routers'...which must surely be some adult orientated Australian web site!

David

I like the Reuters site, but it doesn't seem geared to PPC. Is there a PPC setting on the site that I'm missing?

Hey, don't forget the news that really matters:
www.fark.com/avantgo.html and
mobile.theonion.com

Who wants to discuss mad cow disease around the office when you can talk about crazed Reindeer named 'Blitzen' attacking the NBC reporter in Alaska.

I'm getting lots of comments re Avantgo pages, but I'm looking for real-time, online, PDA-friendly news sites. BBC seems to be the one that looks most like MSNBC Mobile. Are there any other suggestions? (Reuters is good, but not PDA friendly).

kidding aside, the best links page I've found is mobile.pdahay.com , and from there you can at least browse through a few to get a feel for them yourself. Click on the portal at the top and there is a list of of 635 mobile links, many of them news, many worth bookmarking. I like globe and mail because it is regional and bloomberg for business, but there are other good ones too. Many of these links are to the site that was formatted for avantgo, but it is still the live, over the 'net site.

The BBC link already referred to looks very good too.
