View Full Version : Syncing with two different outlook mail accounts?

I normally sync my Ipaq with Outlook 2000 on my work pc.
At home I run Outlook Express. I know there is a program that will allow me to sync to Outlook Express, I checked it out.
However, is it possible to manage two mail accounts on the Ipaq? That way I could sync my personal email and my work email.

I am thinking this has to do with forming two different partnerships for the the handheld maybe? One with the work PC and one with the home?

Not sure if I've stated the question clearly but I am sure the GODS of PPC Thoughts will set me straight! :-)
Thanks

Craig

I was wondering the same thing. Anybody know anything about this?

Thanks

I don't think you can have two partnerships with two different computers and sync your mail. I sync with Outlook at home via AS and Lotus Notes via mNotes at work. AS would not allow me to sync mail with two partnerships. At home I partner and AS sync's mail and at work I'm a guest with mNotes syncing my mail.

I'd think AS will limit you to syncing one.

If there is a solution, someone will post one for you soon I'm sure.

I tried syncing to OL2000 at work and OLxp at home.Everything works fine except the inbox. AS popped up and said I could only sync one or the other.

Interesting to see if anyone can do it though.

Maybe this thread (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20353&highlight=multi+sync) will help...

Yeah, I think you can only Synch one, and use the other partner as a gateway to the 'net, etc. Dunno, I only use one machine.

HOWEVER, on WM2003 when I go into the mail application, there's a menu item... "Accounts" in there you choose "new account" and you set it up much like you have outlook express set up on your system--give the right pop3/smtp servers, logins, etc, and then when you AS, you should also make the netconnection to your servers and populate that account with your email. It's not really synching your OE client, it's actually going to your mail server and grabbing your mail from it.

If you're wi-fied, you can actually specify to check your email on that account only, and not the "active sync" account. Looks like you could specify several different mail servers and account names!

IIRC, there are programs to let you access hotmail, etc too--(yes, besides pIE )

I've concluded only one email partnership is possible, as I read in detail the manuals covering activesync and the IPAQ, and somewhere in there it stated that pretty clearly. I do sync it with the home pc and it will sync files and stuff, but no Outlook data.
It would be a KILLER app if someone came up with a way to do it though!

Thanks again for the comments....

I sync my Outlook email (in Outlook 2000 before and now in Outlook XP) and I sync my hotmail email. I use Pocket Hotmail to sync the latter. Oh yeah, I run PPC 2002.

I only have a few issues (these are all only my experience, not "rules"):

1. you can only have activesync syncing the inbox on one computer.
2. the computer with the inbox being synced has to be the first partnership you set up. if a partnership is set up already you will get a message that you can only have one partnership if you want to sync the inbox. you have to fool activesync.
3. I have had no problems with pocket hotmail, bought it off handango more than a year ago.
