Hello--

I am looking for advice about buying a pocket PC-- and am particularly interested in an application of voice/speech recognition software. But I'm not sure that the technology is out there just yet to do what I want to do.

I'm a biologist, and I spend a lot of time out in the field taking data. Usually, I'm using both of my hands to manipulate plants. In an ideal world, there would be some kind of handsfree way for me to input simple data into an excel-style spreadsheet. The data would consist of numbers and "yes/no" kind of variables, and I would like to be able to move on to the next cell/row without having to futz with the pocket pc everytime.

Even if I had to check the file periodically for errors, this would save a ton of time over repeatedly stopping to enter the data. Is this possible and do you have any advice as to what Pocket PC/software I should buy? As yet, I've only found information on voice recognition software that allows you to interface with email/cell phone numbers and call up applications, not anything that would allow you to work on the application itself.

Thanks!
