On my 2210 I find that anything under 32mb of available system memory leaves my device unstable and sluggish. What do you guys usually leave free?

Spike, my 2210, is running fine. Free storage is at 11 MB and free Program memory is 18 MB.

Your instability issues may be application related. Also, are you using Bluetooth? If you are have you tried applying the recently released Bluetooth patch (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/19650.html)

My 1935 has about 11 MB of Storage free and about 12 MB of program memory free with no instability issues.

I have noticed the same kind of issues that you are seeing. Leaving enough free Program and Storage RAM is important, especially on a 5400, if you are having driver initialization issues.

However, I have found that without at least 20MB of free Program RAM, and 15MB of free Storage RAM, my Wi-Fi driver will not initialize.

Kind Regards,

Just thought I would ask... I usuall have about 16mb Program and 8mb Memory.

I installed a couple of programs to Main Memory for a day or two and noticed atrocious performance. It seems having anything less than 24mb to play around with is dangerous.

I might have to give Pocket PC Techs a look...

I heartily agree with giving PPCTechs a visit; I installed the 128MB upgrade on my old 3955 and noticed a significant difference in speed, stability and fewer random hangups. I recently bought a 2210 and have sent it off to PPCTechs as well; now, if only there were some way to increase the screen size to 3.8"...

I am currently running just fine with 6.05 MB of storage and 16.52 MB of Program memory on my H5455.

I try to leave 32 MB allocated to Program memory. I occasiaonlly install something -- usually a game -- which forces that down a bit to make room in Storage memory. I currently have just under 10 MB available Storage memory.

I've got an antique e310 that after installing the mandatory "non-storage card" programs (e.g. picture viewers, PI, pocketplayer which wouldn't make much sense to install in my SD card) leaves me with about 9-10MB of program memory. Most programs run without a glitch but if i'm playing memory intensive games (e.g. kasparov chessmate, gangsta race), windows automatically shuts down pocketinformant. Everything else runs fine except eMIMS which is a drug program that requires 10MB or so program memory to run... and thus automatically gets shut down by windows everytime i load it up.

I need a new device :)
