Good Day All,
I have a question, I have noticed from time to time that a few of the members of this site have listed "MVP - Mobile Devices" (I think I have that right but I am sure I will be corrected if I made a mistake). What exactly does that mean and what is involved with getting such a designation?

The Microsoft MVP Program (http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/) page ought to answer those questions. :)

imo, the MVP designation essentially means you're a god among men. And it's really cool, too.

Wasn't there some talk about a year ago about Microsoft cancelling the MVP program? I thought I had read something about it but they changed their minds after the howls of protest......

I'm an MCSE and have only heard of the MVP program. Is there a testing tract similar to the MCP/MCSE program? If not, how is the knowledge demonstrated?

I believe it's based on volunteering. helping etc.

Uh, not really. If that were the case, the PPCT editors would be lousy shills. ;)

Try reading some of the Microsoft newsgroups.......
Well... in an effort to clear up any confusion - The MVP title is essentially an award giving out by Microsoft for those who are involed and help out in the various technical communities. For those who are MVPs on this site... this happens to be the mobile device community. For me, this is the Tablet PC community. The MVPs are generally nominated by Microsoft employees who see people who are active in newsgroups, etc. So there is no "testing process", it is all done my demonstration of knowledge and willingness to help out.

I've read many of them. Your point? Most of them are geniuinely helpful, as they know the products backwards and forwards. spg is correct -- they usually get honored after establishing a presence. They're certainly not paid MS employees.
