Hi all. I need a good email service to use with my Pocket PC. I'd like to use MSN, but alas, Inbox doesn't support it.

SO, this is what I need.

-I need a FREE email address (easy name to remember) that works SEAMLESSLY with a POcket PC. I need it to be able to do attachments, and I need it to be free. Is this possible?

Thanks

The only one that comes to mind is FastMail (http://www.fastmail.fm). It's free for basic IMAP4 access, but if you want to use their outgoing (SMTP) mail server to send messages you have to pay a one-time fee of US$14.95. If you choose to use their free service, you must use a local SMTP server, such as the one operated by your ISP. If you travel frequently or use other networks, having an SMTP server you can use from anywhere makes it worth the one-time $14.95 fee, in my opinion.

You can select from a long list of domain names if you don't want to use "fastmail.fm." If you have a PPC running Windows Mobile 2003, you can use a secure SSL connection to their server. There are even step-by-step instructions on their site for setting up their service on a Pocket PC 2002 (http://www.fastmail.fm/docs/imap/pocketpc2002.htm). (The steps are slightly different with Windows Mobile 2003, but it's close enough that you should be able to figure it out.)

I use FastMail with the $14.95 "Member" level service and am very happy with it. In two years, they've had no unannounced or unplanned downtime that I'm aware of, and their servers are very speedy. I use FastMail as more of a backup account in case I can't access my own mail server for whatever reason, but it is very useful to have on my Pocket PC.

Disclaimer: I'm don't work for FastMail, nor do I get anything for promoting them. I'm just a satisfied user.
