I've recently got an H5450 iPAQ running PPC2002, and so far it's great.

The only problem I have is that I can't connect to any network shares.

I have searched this forum and although a few others seem to have similar problems, nothing works for me.

I've set up networking fine, I can browse the net, I can ping the paq from my desktop, so I don't think networking is an issue.

Here is what i have tried:
Connecting to shares on: Win NT4, WinXP, Win2003, Samba
using wifi and/or cradle.
Every combo I can of the PPC connections.
connecting to the share using machine name and IP addys
with/without trailing slashes

When I try to connect to a world readable share through file explorer I get two warnings; the first claiming to be from Internet explorer (The net work path was not found), the second from File Explorer (the network resource cannot be found or you do not have permission to access the network. Contact your network administrator)

When I try to connect to a share with strict permissions, I get a logon box(username/password/domain) which I dutifully fill in, but the the same two messages apear.

To me the message from Internet explorer seems like the key, but I've got no idea what to do next. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

*also as a quick side note, is there an equivilent "hosts/lmhosts" file on PPC2002?
