Does anyone here already have an extended battery for his/her iPaq 4150/4155 ? I'd like to know if the 1800mAh extended battery fits under the standard cover on the back of the 4150. If not; is there a cover with somekinda bulge suplied with the battery ?

(My god; i hope it goes under the standard cover, or else it would leave my brandnew Vaja custom useless... )

HP technical support told me that they would fit without any problems. I just ordered two today and should have them by Friday. I will let you know what I find out and will post a few pictures if you want.

Cool ! :D I'm looking forward to your experiences with these batteries ! I'm up to a lot of wifi-ing ;) so some extra juice would come in handy. It's great that the cradle is already equiped to charge them !

Sorry to disappoint but the HP tech is so wrong it should be a crime.

I received the 4155 and the extended battery yesterday and it does not fit under the standard cover. An expanded cover is actually sent in the package and it bulges out slightly in the back.

The 1800 mAH battery doesn't fit with the standard cover. It actually creates a rather large bulge.

How much is 'slightly' ? Do you think i could still cram the package into the Vaja case ? How many milimeters are we talking about ?

6 mm. I dout that you can cram it into the Vaja case.

Can someone post a pic of the extended battery installed? Does the new cover have a wart, or is the whole unit 6mm thicker?

The wart is about the same size as the regular cover since it uses the same clips to close it. So think of a wart the size of the regular cover. Will post picture later tonight.

I can't believe that the HP rep didn't know this before you ordered. Wow. for that kind of bulge, you think the battery would be even greater capacity than 1800. that really sucks.

if you swap the battery very often, you will probably break that flimsy back cover. it is really thin, and not very durable. I'll try the 1800 battery and see how I like it. The problem that I run into is cases. i had a 5550 with the extended battery, and all i really wanted was the basic flip cover with the snap lid. no luck. the extended battery screwed the whole thing up for me. now it looks like the extended battery for the 4100 will screw that up for me too. Jesus Christ, I just want to live.

Probably not. The h1940 only has 4 battery contacts while the h4100 has 6. The (+) and (-) terminals are in different positions too.

There is no way I'm putting that butt-ugly thing on the back of my new 4150! There has GOT to be a better solution to the battery issue.

You guys asked the wrong question when calling HP Tech. I would have asked him if the size is the same like the slim battery and flushed with the body of the ipaq. HP Tech always misunderstood, I would have asked him a bunch of size question just to make sure.

It seems to me that the technical support people or technical sales people rarely know what they are talking about. I often find that I know more about the devices they sell than they do. is it me or is that totaly wrong? shouldn't the people who sell this stuff know more about it than the average caller calling in? I should restate that, I'm probably not an average caller, but still, they should know if the battery sticks out or not. just basic selling stuff here.
