My Viewsonic just departed this world... so I purchased a HP2215. I am attempting to restore all my contacts, tasks, calendar, etc.... but can't figure how to make this one happen. When I go to restore in iPAQ Backup, it won't let me with the old files from SD Card.

Hmm - not sure how you are using iPaq BAckup here - if you had Pocket Backup Plus (the non OEM version of iPaq Backup) on your Viewsonic it would have enabled the creation of automatically executing .exe backups. Restore in iPaq backup assumes you have a backup from your viewsonic created with Pocket Backup?

The issue with any backup on your viewsonic - Pocketbackup or Activesync Backup - backup the system files of the host PPC. Each manufacturer has its own modified version of the OS with their own apps loaded and generally when going from one manufacturers PPC to another the backup is not going to be fully compatible anyway- I had this when I went from iPaq 3870 to XDA and again when I went from XDA to iPaq 2210. The backup is useful for reloading after a hard reset - or onto a replacement matching unit if you loose/break a PDA - but when changing manufacturer it seems that you invariably have to reload from scratch to avoid odd things happening.

Contacts/Calendar/Tasks etc will automatically sync with your PC Outlook after you have set up an Activesync Partnership, you dont need to rely on a backup - word of warning - change the default settings for period of Calendar weeks if you want to keep entries beyond 2 weeks back from currrent date - first time I did this I lost 3 years worth of Diary entries!
