 WHAT'S GOING ON!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a Toshiba e310 (Ya, gonna upgrade soon) and my available memory is constantly running to zero and if I do a soft reset it jumps back up to 8MB. But within 24 to 48 hours it's back to zero.
Any ideas what might cause this? Thanks.

Sounds like a memory leak. Could you list what applications are installed on it?

And before you answer, let me hazard a guess that you have Pocket Plus installed?

I have Pocket Plus installed on every device I've owned and never experienced this. ;) Maybe you're having a more subtle application interaction problem?
I have heard of various other applications causing memory leaks from time-to-time, though.

I notice a pronounced slowdown when it's running, but I used to just chalk that up to a tradeoff between functionality and performance, but since returning to the PPC world from my Tungsten T3, it's quite noticeable...
Maybe it's just a strange thing. I don't know. Maybe I'm just nuts.

Hmm. I don't notice this. Have you tried running without Pocket Plus for a few days? I'd like to think, because I have a Pocket PC running at 200MHz, that such differences would be pronounced. If I had to guess, I'd also say it's probably that you're used to the "immediacy" of the Palm OS. That is one thing I do notice (and miss) when I play with a Tungsten or similar device.

Actually, I have, and it does indeed make a difference. The bigger issue is that in order to figure it out I'd have to remove drivers and such because I really don't have a heck of a lot on my Axim...
I guess I may just have to do it and get it over with.

That happens to my iPAQ 3835 whenever I have Adobe Reader installed. It also happens when I fill my memory up with programs until I only have about 10 megs left. Basically, my memory fills up with the unit just syncing in the cradle. I have not found out why it happens. To combat this I usually end up doing a hard reset every few months to keep things running smoothly. I know it's a pain to do the restore but it beats fighting the frustration of the memory leak on a daily basis.

I don't have Pocket Plus installed cause I'm a cheap-ass and won't pay for anything. I do have the following installed as far as plug-ins...
System Monitor
TDlaunch
TaskPlus
Calendar+
I don't think I have Acrobat reader installed either. Though I think I did once then removed it.
Thanks.

Whoa!
There's a common element!
I have Taskplus installed also... I wonder...

Actually that's one of the first things I installed. I don't think it was doing it before. And I can't remember anything I installed just before this started happening.
Though I think I did remove Pocket Nester just about the time it started happening, but why would removing a program cause this?

I just uninstalled Taskplus and it's like someone lit a fire under my ppc. 8O
Unreal.
I guess it's some wonky interaction with my Axim. Now I just have to see how the memory goes after it's cabled all day.

I'll try the same. I don't really use it anyway (Though both my boss and my wife would love me if I did.)
OK, just uninstalled and it shows I have 8 MB free.

After being cabled all day and taking Task Plus out, my memory went from 25.7 to 25.6, and I played an hour's worth of MP3's on the way home.
Apparently, Taskplus was my strange leak that I could never find. How did you do, Jack?

Same here. 8MB free. Hardly any change. Normally I'd be down to about 4 or lower by now. Herm.......
*edit*
I just checked and it turns out I origionally downloaded and installed it back in March of '03. Since then there have been upgrades as late as October. You can get it here (http://www.webattack.com/get/pocketpc/taskplusfree.html) but the page that tells what bugs are fixed is not working. Gonna try and install and see if I get the same memory leak.
*edit (again)*
oooOOOOooooooohhhhh!!!!!! It also has a lot of new options. :D I love free software. 8)

Well, It's been just over an hour and I've already lost 3 MB of memory. =(

I haven't had mine cabled today to check, but I really miss the program, so I guess I have to install it again ;-)

I can definitely support the argument against TaskPlus! I've got it too, but recently disabled it in an attempt to stop this memory leak effect.
I've still been resetting a lot though, because ActiveSync is being a pain in the arse...

Well, after a full day of being cabled up, I haven't lost 1k of memory.
I guess it's a combination of Task Plus running and AS synching continuously that's causing the leak.
Now the question is, what program do I get that can do the same thing as far as displaying my tasks on the Today screen?

Have you guys submitted a bugreport? The developer might be able to track it down and fix it...

That's actually my next step... I wanted to be double sure it was taskplus before I alerted him to it. Also, I wanna make sure Jack had the same results over the last two days. If he did, then it's definitely TP...
Now I just need to find a decent replacement for it!

Hi,
Was gone for 4 days. B-day trip to Reno. (No, I lost money. :() Anyway, didn't lose any memory while gone but since being in it's cradle thismorning I am once again losing memory.
