Hey guys,
I was simply wondering if anyone knew of any pretty good deals on any 256 or 512 SD Cards, preferably not from Sandisk (i've heard bad things). If you guys have any good deals you would share, i'd really appreciate it. Thx.

Sears have Sandisk 512 MB SD cards for $99.00. You have to order on line today for store pickup.

There's a thread about this over at Brghthand with a link to the sale page.

I'll post the link when I get up, Bnghthand is no good with Pocket IE.

OK, here's the link to the page at Sears: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=No&vertical=COMP&pid=05737553000

It will say "Out of stock" Click on the "ways to buy" button for store pick up. Note they have 256 MB cards for the same price. Shame it's Sandisk, but might be worth getting at that price, $145 is the lowest price on the PriceGrabber page.. I'm not sure if the 512 cards have been causing problems or not but I'm tempted to get one. It would be nice to free up some space on my CF card and my 256MB SD card is in need of formatting (again).

what kind of rebate is it? Mail-in or Instant?

Steve,

Don't believe all the hype. I, and countless others, have had MANY sandisk SD and CF cards without any QC issues. I don't mean to discount or diminish the legitimate frustrations of those who have had issues with sandisk. I just don't think it is widespread considering the volume sandisk does.

The important thing is that $99 for a 512 sd card is an exceptional deal. Less than I paid for a 256.

You cound check out this Kingston 512MB SD (http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=295990). It is listed for $144 w/ a $10 rebate. Even without the rebate it is not a bad price.

Here is a thread (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20056&highlight=kingston+512mb) that talks about it.

I am hoping to get one of these for Christmas with my 2200. :multi:

Quality aside, I am more concerned about a card's speed. My experience with SanDisk 256MB SD cards are that are sloooooooow. I was like night and day when I switched over to a 256MB Lexar card. Operations (ie. Mazingo sync) would take consistantly 15 minutes on a SanDisk where the same sync would take less than 5 on a Lexar. File transfers same thing.

Sure, $99 is a great price for a 1/2 gig of solid state storage. However, Caveat Emptor...you get what you pay for.

All I get when I try to add it to my cart is an error.

And you cannot search the item directly from the site either.

I just bought a ScanDisk 256MB SD card at Costco for $64.99. Impulse buy, I could probably do without it, but it seemed like an okay price enough to give in to temptation.

Now I just have to find the iPaq instruction manual to see how files are transferred to it.

So I tried to get the SanDisk card from Sears but kept getting an error from their site. Instead I went for the Kingston one. $144.00 (free shipping and a $10.00 rebate as well) is still a good price and hopefully it will be more reliable than the Sandisk anyway.

Has anyone seen one of the promised 1GB SD cards yet?

i have a 256 mb Sandisk SD. yes the card is slow but since i have a card reader, i copy big files with the aid of it, and sync over BT.
so i dont realy care if the card is the fastest or not.
i've heard complaints from sandisk owners, but mine is working well.
get a cheap one if you plan to use the card to store music, in this case speed isnt important that much

ummm hasn't anybody heard of pricewatch.com
last i checked it was a commonly used site by geeks like me and the kind of people who would visit this web site... 512 SD = $77 (shipping included)
I've seen a little better deals at either compusa or best buy when they had a really good rebate offer, but you have to keep your eyes peeled for that

I purchased two 512 SanDisk SD cards from Office Depot with a $25 rebate on each card giving me a net price of $99 each. I also purchased a 1GB SD card from eCOST at $261 net to use with my iPAQ 5550 and a GPS setup for car travel.

There is a caution because the better GPS software maps (with more detail) are large and the maps will not "fit" on a small SD card ... so to minimize switching maps while traveling, I had to purchase a 1GB SD card to hold my GPS maps.

Also, as you probably know, the iPAQ 5550 does not include a utility to format SD cards and hidden files can be written to SD cards that take away memory and formatting is necessary to regain maximum memory. I had to purchase 3rd Party software for formatting ... bummer!

That's too much, just ordered PQI 1GB SD from coolera.net, $110. I'm now actually think order the second one for all my maps for GPS. Never thought the price has dropped this much!

This thread is quite old. This, I would imagine, is why your price was lower.
