A few have reported that after installing the required MSN Messenger update, their Pocket PCs no longer connect to the Messenger service. <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19562">We discussed this last month</a>. One possible clue has surfaced in the .pocketpc newsgroup. A user reported that by unhacking the user agent string in PIE, Messenger connects. So, if you are having this problem, have you used RegKing or manually hacked your Pocket IE user agent string to make servers think you are running a different browser? If so, undo the hack, soft reset and try connecting again, then post here with your results.

Doesn't solve my problem. I have two passports and with one I can successfully log in on the pocket pc everytime, never with the other. the real pain in the neck is that the one I can't use is my primary messenger account thereby rendering messenger useless without my contacts. this issue only occured after I performed the upgrade.

I solved my problem by removing the update from my PC. I had installed it (throughh my PC of course) and then did a hard-reset on my iPAQ. Then I wasn't able to install the MSNM update. Finally in deperation, I uninstalled the update under Add/Remove Programs and then tried the Update again. This time it worked. Give that a try if your circumstances are similar. I don't remember what the error message I was getting was though - sorry. Good Luck.

Not a solution to the problem but a workaround: if you log in to your desktop under the non-functioning account and export your contacts, then log in under the functioning account, import those contacts. Now they are are all under one account. When you log in with your PPC, they will all be there.

You could also call one of the tech support numbers for MSN Messenger at http://messenger.msn.com with your issue. THis seems to be a glitch with Passport and the PPC on a particular account, not a wide spread issue.
