Hello All,

I have a 1935 pocket pc ipaq. I love it. I take it everywhere and use it for everything. I just recently turned it on to find thescreen busted. The glass isnt busted, but I guess behind somehow it was busted, maybe do to some kind of pressure? I keep it in a leather case with a hard front, but guess that didnt help much. I was thinking about trying to get it fixed or just buying new. I dunno, I dont know if I could wait for the turn aorund time. The unit is basically brandnew, it laoways had a screen protector and it was always in case, so it looks brand spaking new. I guess I could sell the busted one for a lttle bit of change on eBay. I was almsot contemplating buying a new one and wlaking out to my car, switching them and saying it came liek that, but I just cant do it (stupid morals). I just recently lost my job for asking for the days I work a half day off to do homework for college (yeah that suxed), so as you can see, I am quite bummed. But, thats life, throughs you hard balls. Luckily I have 130 dollars credit at staples and they are having 12% off customer appreciation so maybe I can score a deal.

Im trying to decide whether to buy a 1945 or a 2215 if I do buy a new one. Its a tough call. I have two 1900 series batteries and a case so I couldnt sue them... blah! The insanity. Any comments or suggestiosn to my plight and my jarble or incoherrent questions would be greatly appreciated!

Well, the 1935 is a relatively new device and its still under warranty. So unless there's obvious physical damage (e.g. cracked screen, leaking LCD) it's always worth trying to return it to the store you bought it for an exchange before you fork out hard earned cash!

Otherwise, replacing screens often cost way to much money to be worth not getting a new device. I'm not sure if the 2215 uses the same battery as the 1945... but if you can afford that, why not the new 4xxx series? ;)

Well, the lcd is leaking I think. Not quite sure exactly whats wrong. I bought it through the HP educational Program and it had no warranty, like a 30 day or something. The 2215 and 1900 series take different batteries. If Staples were to carry the 4xxx series I might consider it, Keep in mind I have 130 staples credit to help augment the damage I will take

You might want to check with HP and see if you can get an extended warranty for it. Their 3-year extended warranty can be purchased up to one year after your purchase and costs less than $160. After buying it, wait a couple weeks then call them with your problem. Otherwise, I would buy new the screen will cost too much to replace I think.

This is probably not helpful, but in case you were wondering how that could've happened...

My friend had the same prob with his color cell. The screen cracked due to sudden change in temperature. I think it seems reasonable that the same thing could have happened to you. In his case the warranty covered it by the way.

About two weeks ago the lcd on my mp3 also cracked, no damage outside as well. :(

I have a 1935 and keep it in a leather case so I am wondering how you cracked the screen. Did you sit it on it or something like that cause i know Ihave come close a couple of times.

I am also an attorney and under most states sales law you can claim that there is an implied warranty (meaning that it should work like it is supposed to) and if the screen quit working through no fault of your own than you should be able to have it replaced.)

On Hp's website the actual language says:

"HP warrants HP hardware Products against defects in materials and workmanship. HP further warrants that HP hardware Products conform to Specifications."

cited from part f of section 8 of HP Terms and Conditions of Sale or Service.

I bought my 1935 throgh the HP eductional program too while in law school and i do not remeber there being any disclaimers for the warranty. If it was not your fault than you should call and talk to a rep -- just ask to talk to whoever answers the phones boss becuase who ever answerred the phone is trained to not give you any money and has no authority to do anything to get you a new 1935. Once you get higher up the chain then start asking for a new one. Also -- write down the name of every person you talk to and their extension number. That way you can call back you will know who you told what to.

and good for you for having morals. When I read that I was ready to send you the 200 bucks for a new one.

Hope that helps. Any other questions let me know.
