Hello

Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction to find out the following:

What are the various connection/synch speeds over the following connection methods:

1) Infrared
2) USB
3) Bluetooth
4) WiFi

This is assuming iPAQ 5550, PPC 2003 if that matters.

infrared seems very very slow, and USB seems slowish. Wondering if its worth getting a USB bluetooth dongle. I guess the USB dongle is going to be faster than infrared, but slower than straight USB? I would love to know how much faster bluetooth is than Infrared though.

Thanks
David

I believe Bluetooth ActiveSync is slower than USB, as it emulates a serial connection. I'd expect it to be slightly faster than IR, perhaps, but not by much.

The fastest, by far, is WiFi. That doesn't use a serial connection.

(Has anyone done AS over a BT LAN profile connection? If so, is that faster than standard BT ActiveSync?)

I can personally confirm that ActiveSync over BT is considerably slower than USB.

Activesync over WiFi is blazing fast!

Activesync over WiFi is blazing fast!

Doesn't seem faster than USB for me :| But I'm not sure why...it always seems to take awhile to connect, but then it's fast.

BT activesync is teeth-achingly slow, it seems slower than serial for me but then again, I have the worlds worst BT dongle :)

I also notice very little difference with WiFi v's USB syncing.... except of course syncing over WiFi is WAY cooler!
