PocketPc + Wireless

hi all.
can anyone give me some idea how to make two PocketPc communicate with each other in a WAN. I have to develop a program which will be able to send text message to other PocketPCs on the same WAN. Any comments suggestions will be of great help.
some body told me about Microsoft Portrait project. But that one doesnot explain how it was developed. Well that one is a too fundoo thing as far as i think. I just need text message to be transmitted and want to write my own program. Can some body help?

Well, if both are using WiFi and are in ad-hoc mode, you should be able to sniff for the other device and send messages using TCP/IP as the transport. But I'm not a developer, and this is a developer question. ;-)
