I have an iPAQ 5550. The wi fi appears not to work. When I switch it on by touching the icon on the screen, the orange light does not come on at the top of the unit. The bluetooth is fine. I am sure that the last time I used it, I didn't need to be in range of a land wi fi for the orange light to come on. Does anyone have any views please?

This happened once on my 5450 and it took a hard reset to correct it. That was more than 8 months ago and it hasn't happened again. Hope you can find a less painful solution.

Two suggestions:

- Do a soft reset;

- Remove the battery for a few seconds and put it back in. From what I've heard, this "resets" the WiFi without killing the unit's memory. Make sure you've sync'ed or backed up first, though, just in case.

I did the battery removal trick and bingo! It worked. Many thanks for the info.

Just an FYI: THis is a memory Resource issue. Removing the battery kills all of the power, allowing it to bleed out removed all of the active info from your RAM and allowed the driver to reinitialize.
