How about a bar code scanner, magnetic card reader, printer and wireless modem (GSM and CDMA). All this wrapped into a rugged shell. While it is not a Pocket PC, it still uses either Windows CE 3.0 or Windows CE 4.1. From a developer point of view, this means that the tools and languages, used for Pocket PC application development, can be used to target this device. <br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/xpda.gif" />

This also means that Pocket PC apps won't run or will have display problems (windows positioned incorrectly because the taskbar is at the bottom etc.). Just went through this with TextMaker and another rugged WinCE 4.2 machine. It was only about one day in coding, but it's another compiler target to support separately.

Has anyone actually seen this device up close? I am developer focussed on retail market in Europe and like the look of the device. However, the fact that it does not read smart cards would be a disadvantage in European markt. Who are the main competitors (if any) for this product?

Any information greatly appreciated. I have contacted www.logostek.com and they have been very helpful but I would like some independent views.
