Can't sync device. No new installs or changes. A quick message indicating some about a troubleshooter comes and goes to quick to read. Reinstalled Active Sync, tried new USB port, multiple soft resets, and nothing at all. Hard reset will set me back to the dark ages since not sure that the Dell backup captures everything. I NEED HELP!

I'm a new Pocket PC user, but Active Sync seems a lot better than what I had with my Palm 5.

I have had problems with USB on other computers and apps though. A new scanner with USB just about drove me wild cause it kept loosing sync. A clients computer reboots if she moves the cable by more than a little bit. I'd check the hardware connection.

I don't think they care.

I agree with this one! I switched from Palm to 2215 a few months ago, and I had very mixed feelings concerning Activesync (after all the bad news I've read about it). I'm happy to say that 'til today, I've never had severe problems - and I had quite a few Hotsync issues (especially on the Tungsten) on the Palm.

The only thing that bugged me was that for initial set-up you need to connect the cradle - Activesync won't recognize Bluetooth during set-up.

I do experience problems installing large programs via bluetooth, especially if installing directly to SD card (Activesync sometimes fails during installation, so I have to repeat the installation - but it mostly works the 2nd or 3rd time).

Cheers,
teq

Those of us who are Microsoft Mobile Devices MVPs can attest to the fact that:

1. Yes, Microsoft DOES know that many people hate ActiveSync.
2. Yes, Microsoft DOES care that many people hate ActiveSync.

You have to try to remember, though, how challenging it is to create a service that works perfectly with every device hardware type, with every add-on hardware and software combination, with every PC type, with every user idiosynchracy, etc.

There are just SO many variables that can impact how well ActiveSync works that sometimes I'm surprised it works as well as it does.

I used to hate AS, but ever since I installed my e740 with the 23 ROM, it has worked perfectly. Wasn't MS problem after all. As Brad implied, they get blamed sometimes, when it isn't their fault. :way to go:
