I ordered a Jornada 720 off ebay, and I love it. The only problem is most software needs Pocket PC 2002. Is there any place that I can download or buy and update? Any help would be appreciated.

No. The 720 is not a Pocket PC and cannot run the Pocket PC OS.

For future info - do not post the same message in more than one of the forums. It is irritating, against the site rules and will not win you any friends.

It says that it uses Windows CE 3 (2000). It will run my programs that will run under windows CE 2000. I was just wanting to upgrade to at least CE 4.0 but would like to get CE 5.0. I know the Jornada 720's have a lot of stuff that typical PDA's do not have, but I thought it was still a pocket pc. Can somebody elaborate?

1) There is no CE 5.0 - nor is there a Win CE 2000

2) The Jornada 7120 is not a Pocket PC - it is a Handheld PC and uses the HPC 2000 OS not the Pocket PC OS

3) Windows CE is the underlying OS on which both the Pocket PC and HPC OSes are based (cf. Windows 3.1/95 being based on MS-DOS). PPC and HPC are not usually cross compatible though (except in one or two rare examples of software that will work on both).

4) HPC 2000 is the most up-to-date version of the HPC OS there is.

5) Some modern Handheld PCs may use Windows CE 4 direct (i.e. without the HPC shell). However - no upgrade to Win CE 4 is available for the Jornada 720 and it is impossible to source one that will work from any third party as all OS upgrades for Win CE devices are device specific.
