Hey,
I'm interested in virtually controlling my desktop from my PDA over the net. I've heard you can do this with XP professional, but nothing about the home version.
Is this possible?

What can I do? Is it just like controlling my desktop, and can run anything?
Thanks

BTW: I've got an IPAQ 3835 w/ PPC 2002.

I believe this is one of the features that is in the Pro version that isn't in the XP home version. :(

TRUE, you can do this with XP PRO, BUT NOT with XP Home.

You might take a look at VNC (http://www.realvnc.com/what.html) instead.
It is a FREEWARE software that offers the simular functionality.

Yeah. That's pretty much what I'm asking. What program will let me do that.

Can I use that program (VNC) on my PPC? Didn't say.

There are a few VNC viewers for Pocket PCs, but none of them are "official" releases. Here are links to two that I have used, but I've had problems getting them to work reliably under Windows Mobile 2003 on my iPAQ h5455. They both worked fine under Pocket PC 2002 on the same device. One viewer (http://www.cs.utah.edu/~midgley/wince/vnc.html) Another viewer (http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~ssamak/). This one is the newer of the two and supports features from the TightVNC (http://www.tightvnc.com) release.Hope that helps you get started!

Any tips on how to get the PPC client to work?
I thought it was simply entering the ip of my desktop.....

Thanks

I think you must also specify the "display number." For probably 99% of VNC users, the display number will be "0" (zero). This is generally in the form

[IP address]:[Display (or port) number]

Example:

192.168.1.17:0
