I'm trying to use Skype (www.skype.com) to talk with someone on a college network. I'm on a cable-based home LAN. Here's what's going on:
WITH SKYPE:
-Installs just fine, and brings up the "New User/Returning User" (or whatever) wizard.
-The person on the college network enters in info for a new account and submits it, but the wizard errors out after saying "connecting" for a minute or two.
-I tried creating an account on my PC and giving them the username and password, but they can't sign in.
-Can't get into Skype options, because exiting the wizard closes Skype.
WITH NETMEETING:
-I can call them using their IP address, but when they "answer" the call the session closes.
-They can't call me.
I'd really like to get this working. Any help or ideas you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
