Hello
I have been installing and uninstalling a couple appd on my iPAQ 5550 with PPC 2003.

I turned on the iPAQ after a soft reset, and EVERY file in my "My Documents" folder has been deleted. All folders remain.

Damn that is annoying. I can reproduce the data, at the cost of time. I have a backup, but its about a week old. Seems like you have to back up every time you dock with these things. This is the second lot of data I have lost in about 2 weeks.

Anyone else had this?

Any way to recover them?

Thanks
David

If you sync them with your PC check the deleted items folder as ActiveSync drops them in their when it deletes files

Unfortunately I never synched the files. It takes far too long over the infrared which I use at home.

I don't have that particular problem, but while restoring a colleague's Toshiba e335 after a hard reset, I noticed that this woman's entire Pocket_PC_My_Documents folder on her PC has disappeared. I searched the entire hard drive and the network. It's just gone!

This is a long shot, but if you have Windows XP, turn on "Show Hidden Files", then look here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Jason Dunn\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\Shogun\Synchronized Files Backup

"Shogun" is the name of my Pocket PC...

Thanks Justin. I'll give that a try. She is using XP.

Justin Dunn, Jason's evil twin. (Sorry, it had to be said. ;) )

That tells you something about the kind of day I had yesterday. Sorry Jason

Hmmm . . . actually, I had been posting earlier in the day to iPAQ Headquarters in response to a member named Justin. I just got the names mixed up. Big OOPS!

By the way, Jason, your suggestion did the trick. Once I turned off the "hidden file cloaking device," I found her Pocket_PC_My_Documents folder. Thanks again!
