Notes program - problems

Using a PPC 2002 and having a problem with the notes program. Usually cannot open any notes or recordings. On the few times that I can there has been an extensive wait and I can almost never open a second one. Here are my questions:
1. Is there anything that I can do to fix this? I don't care if I lose the existing notes but I would certainly prefer to keep them.
2. If your answer to question one is NO, can you advise how do I remove the notes program totally. I am sure that it is taking up space that can be used for a freeware notes program out there.
4. Any suggestions on a notes replacement?

For recordings, I use NoteM (http://www.geocities.com/zavorine/wince/mp3.htm) to make MP3 recordings. It works great.

It may be that you've got a voice recording that's very large and slowing down the opening of the program. I'd check for that first.

Second, you cannot remove the Notes program; it's burned into the ROM.
