So I went to CompUsa today, and looked at the palms (had a not to bad display, pretty cool). Anyways, They have the HP 2155 (which is the one I went in there to look at in the first place) at $399.99, and then they have a Toshiba E755 on clearance for the same price, the 755's screen seems a little dimmer (not sure if there is a brightness control or if that is just how it is), but it does come with WiFi already built in. Whats the better deal here?

If you want to upgrade to the next operating system when it comes out, go with the 2215. Toshiba has a horrible record of providing updates.

Since the 2215 has Bluetooth and the e755 has WiFi, I would tend to go with the one with the radio you are most likely to use.

The 2215 is a bit smaller and HP has a better reputation for support. The 2215 is certainly more attractive as well, although my daughter tells me that looks arn't everything. The e755 has more memory, that would make me buy it over the 2215, especially since I personally use WiFi quite a bit as well.

Yeh I dont think I will be using Bluetooth any time soon, now the girl at CompUsa said the 2155 comes with PPC 2003, and the Toshiba comes with 2002, how hard is it to upgrade to 2003? And like I said the screen on the HP was quite a bit more vibratent, is it really like this, or was the toshiba's brightness maybe turned down?

get the e755 that comes preinstalled with 2003. i'm sure that will save you some money and headache.

you can get it at amazon for $350. i think it even has free shipping.

i have an e755 and i love it. i also love wifi. and to be honest, i would not be as happy with my pocketpc if it didnt have wifi built in. i wouldnt want an extra cf wifi card that sticks out. also the cf card is great for cheap storage. you can get cf cards for almost half the price of sd cards, and in my opinion they are much faster.

also being able to sync wirelessly through wifi is great. i never use the cradle, and the next cool thing is that the external power cable can plug right into the e755 or the cradle.

also the screen on the e755 is great. i usually keep it on the second lowest setting and im just happy.

Well is there an actull difference between the screens of the 2155 and the 755? Or was the one I was looking at maybe just messed up?

I think the 755's screen is great. The colors are crisp and clear and I generally keep it on the next to lowest brightness level and I can read it easily indoors and outside. The screen is also .3" larger, if that makes any difference to you.

Did you check to see the price of the new Toshiba 800 series... with a vga screen I would consider waiting for that unit at this point.

The e755 is $350, the e805 is $600. That is a pretty large gap in prices, it'll be quite a while before the 805 drops to the level of teh e755 now. Although when it does, MS will hopefully have out a new OS that supports VGA, as they have stated they are heading towards.

Tusin, I would reccommend now if you are looking for something in the price range of the e755 and 2215, to go for the Toshiba. I love mine and it has worked flawlessly. If you plan on using wi-fi especially, having a CF or SDIO wi-fi card can be a hassle. You should read the reviews for both on www.PDABuyersGuide.com before you buy though. Hope this helps.
