I work for an organization that is considering equiping our DBA's with Samsung i700's and Pocket DBA.

They are interested in being able to use the PPCPE device as a modem as well for when Pocket DBA isn't enough and they need the full range of SQL Tools on their laptops.

Is it possible to use the i700 as a wireless modem for your laptop? If so, how do you do this?

Thanks for the help!

Kind Regards,

Chris,
Yes, not only is it possible, but very easy. I suggest downloading the driver from Futuredial.com for samsung phones, as I don't believe verizon includes the driver on any of the CD's. (At least, I couldn't find it.)

Other than that, there's a USB control panel which lets you chose whether the usb connection to the computer should be used for activesync or for use as a modem for the PC. This does require having the cradle (Or replacement sync cable) around all the time, to use the item as a modem. Unfortunately, one of the best things and worst things about the cradle is size. It's big, sturdy, charges the 2nd battery as well as the pda, but all of this makes it very bulky for travel purposes.

Good luck with it!

I have the Hitachi G1000 and that is easy to set up and use. Does any one know how to set up the Toshiba 2032? The Sprint version of Verizon Thera.

it depends on if the rom of each phone supports it. i vaguely remember people posting sometime ago that the thera could be used as a modem on sprint networks. you might check http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/

good luck
