Hello everyone,

After surfing for about 15 mins. or so I decided that this is the site I'd like to land on for a while, as it seems to have some pretty good info. for a new pocket pc user, (4150), although not a new techie per se.

I am a total Mac addict, I realize this may get me booed far far away, but have to show my true colors! (However, I do recognize the worth of a good PC, so maybe that may help my case a bit)

Anyone have any thoughts on the 4100 series? Do you have one, do you like it?

I positively love it so far. I'm a teacher by profession, and not only do I use my pocket pc to organize appointments, I have millions of those, but I even keep my required weekly plans on them as well.

It's been awful nifty to e-mail them from anywhere in the school over it. We don't have wireless, but with my unlimited tmobile data, i connect via bluetooth with my phone.

those are just two of things I do with it on a regular basis. What about you guys? Or does anyone absolutely HATE it? I'm curious! :D

Just one word on the 4150:

*DROOL*

I hate being a Dell defector, but I want one of these.....eventually when I have the money!

I'm in love with the 4350. That keyboard is amazing. 8) However, it looks like I'm going to be settling for the 4150. The keyboard just adds too much lenght to the unit. The measurements indicate that it's longer than my 3650!!

I need small, and light weight. 4150 here I come

I am not buying another ppc for about ayear, but if I had to choose one right now it would either be the 4150, 2215, or the Fujitsu Loox :rock on dude!:
I have looked at the 4150 and it is for sure nice. I like the fact it has wi fi and bt. I havent been able to see a working model of the 4350, so I am not sure if it would be to big for me.

Yeah I've seen the 4150 in person but not the 4350....I don't care about the keyboard anyway but I'm kind of curious about what it looks like close up. Anyone seen them at a store yet?

Best Buy has the 4150 in stock, but I dont know if they are going to get the 43xx in. I would rather have a foldable keyboard instead. I am intrerested in seeing the size of the 43xx.

I haven't seen either device in person. However I did draw out the devices on paper and compared them to my existing 3650 (which is pushing 3 years old).

The 4150 is the same measurements as my wifes 1910. The 4350 is a little wider, and a lot longer. When I compared the 4350 against my 3650, the width was almost the same, however the 4350 was considerably longer. :( Too bad. I really like the idea of having a keyboard built in.

Really? I compared the 4350's and 5550's specs and found the height nearly identical. Maybe I made a mistake...

Bluerocket was talking about the 3650 and janak parekh was talking about the 5550. Janak, did you get the two mixed up or did you just do a typo :?:

Neither. :? The 5550 and 3650 are nearly identical in all dimensions, with the exception of the protruding antenna on the 5550. They have to be to accept the same sleeves...

I measured it twice, but maybe the specs I was using were incorrect. I pulled them off a thread around here. Now you have me second guessing.... I'll have to do it again tonight. This time I'll look up the specs from the HP site. I will report back later with my results.

However, I do notice that the 5150 is listed as 5.23 x 3.3 x 0.63 in., and its dimensions are slightly closer to the 3650's as it doesn't have an antenna. Nevertheless, the 4350 is just .17" taller than the 5150, and smaller in every other dimension. Not too shabby if you ask me... :)

Ah yes another Mac lover! I am mac at heart but have to suffice for windows for school  i love my 2215 but i could really use the wifi on the 4150 because my school has a wifi network. oh well maybe the next 22xx series device- i love the look of the 2215. I just hope it doesnt have a nasty antenna like the de--(lol i hate de--s) and the 55xx series...

anyways i have a Mac LC III which i love(except it is very slow). I have always loved the the first mac os. I dont like the newer version as much, but it is better the windows!

To get back to the thoughts on the 4150, I have to second the WOW factor of this device. I have had several Palms and loved my M505 for it's color and size. When OS 5 was released at the same time as the Dell, I saw the direction I was going. Then the X3 came out at the same time as the 4150, and agian...

I too hate to defect from Dell, but now I pick up the X5 and it seems like a plastic brick-the 4150 has size, looks, build quality, and features. Go buy one!

I wouldn't go that far :) I still love my Axim and would never call it a brick! I have called it a beast on occasion but I think it likes that ;)

When I held it up next to the 4150, it was pretty massive looking, but once I left the store, it went back to being "kinda big but not too big to hold or pocket" again :)

I think the 4150 is really a great choice. The size of the pda is important to me. I have taken a look at the dell at one of their kiosks in the mall, but didnt like its bulk. That is for me. I am sure the uses are doing well wiht it.
slim, bt, wi fi, that is a winner to me. I know what I want to accomplish i can.

Have you seen the x3 or are you talking about the x5? The x3 is nearly the same size as the 4150.

Alright.... I used the measurments from HP.ca (They list both metric and imperial, and I prefer the metric numbers. ;) )

Yes, the actual difference may be small when you read the number, but it looks significant to me. I measured down from the top of the page of paper and used 0.5 mechanical pencil.

First up is the 3650 vs the 4350's measurements:
http://www.bluerocket.ca/images/ipaq3650vs4350.jpg

And second up is my wifes 1910 vs the 4350's measurements:
http://www.bluerocket.ca/images/ipaq1910vs4350.jpg

NOTE: I know it doesn't look like it, but the top of the ipaq's are lined up with the edge of the paper. The picture was taken within 6 or 7 inches and the lens was off center to focus on the ruler.

For me, the choice is really between a 4150 and a 4350, so the second picture is really what matters to me. If it was the same size as my 3650 then I would go for it. but larger.... as much as I want a keyboard, I can't do it. Small and light is just too sexy to turn down.

No matter what device you have decided on, HP has done some amazing work in the last year. 8)

Sounds like you've already spoken your choice then. If I had a reason to buy a new Pocket PC right now, I'd go for the 4350 myself -- I'm used to tall PDAs, and want the keyboard and bigger battery. But the 4150 seems to be calling your name...

BTW, nice pics. I see you've been agonizing over this. :razzing:

"Agonizing" You could say that. My 3650 is turning 3 in a couple months and I don't think I have ever left it behind. So I'm used to large. But the lure of small....

What makes it even worse is hearing all the talk about the 6000 series. That would be my ultimate device. Too bad my 3650 won't last much longer. I need a replacement soon.

One thing for certain, if he is putting such time into picks, he is serious about his purchase. I dont think you can go wrong either way.
Personally the keyboard makes it too long, I dont like that. While it has its conveniences, it also has its inconveniences.
