Previously, the manufacturer has also opted to refrain from adding the iPAQ h5100 series to the portfolio of iPAQs sold in EMEA markets, although for which reason is uncertain."<br /><br />What!? 8O I wonder if it's due to language issues and them having to have a different physical keyboard for every language...still, it's sad to hear this. The 4350 is a very nice device! FYI - EMEA stands for "Europe, Middle East, Africa".<br /><br /><b>UPDATE:</b> Of course, even if HP isn't officially releasing the 4350 in the EMEA markets, <a href="http://estore.shopplex.com/app/storefront.aspx?cat_id=19&inv_id=256175&modid=30214092059015&aid=5">you can still order one</a> 8) . Since it's not obvious from your affiliate's site, I'm assuming these are still not available from any source in the U.S...Correct? Please say no. Tell me I'm wrong. Please!

You can pre-order today from Tek 'n Toy and they'll start shipping them out on the 17th...I'll be doing up a post about that later today. :-D

That's a shame. HP is the #1 PDA vendor in EMEA as of last quarter. Maybe if the North American response is good enough, they'll reconsider.

Thank you. I thought I was going to have to read the article to know what that meant.

When they mean Europe, they must surely not mean the UK. They invented English and we brought it over here, they must sell there. It would be wierd if it wasn't sold there.

EMEA includes the UK. My point about the language on the keyboard was pure speculation - I'm sure there are other reasons.

You would have been disappointed - they say EMEA in the article as well.

Do these guys ship to the UK, then? If so, how much for? The way the Dollar is collapsing against the pound at the moment means $500 is coming up less than £300 now, and for a PDA, let alone an iPAQ 4350, its very cheap. I'd probably expect £500 in the UK...

Anyway, I'm getting carried away with the thought, but if they don't ship to UK, are they any online American retailers that do?

Well, we've been able to buy thumbboards and other keyboards for PDA's for a long time without our special layout, so we're almost used to using macro-functions for letters lite ÆØÅ... so thats not really a good reason in my opinion.

Palm C/W and Treo's have been for sale here since day one, so what is HP thinking about???

You'd get a kicking on the import duties and VAT so it's probably not going to be that low a price :(

Yeah, but considering we won't be able to get the 4350 here at all, it does seem worth it - same price (maybe still a bit less) as you'd expect in the UK for a product that you can't get in the UK doesn't seem that bad... So, anybody know if they export to UK?

OK - I don't want to revisit the whole "u" thing (and I'm not), but I noticed that I am getting messages about the split thread being updated, but not about the original thread being updated. While the "u" thread was for the most part funny (though rightfully relegated to the Hall of Flame and Shame), I was actually interested in this one. :?

What is the normal way that update notices work on split threads? Do the update messages follow a thread at random? Does the moderator pick one? Am I just really bored and looking for something to talk about? :|

I agree. Customs &amp; Excise are getting rather good at spotting goods coming into the country. In addition, certain couriers have adopted the practice of paying the duty up front and claiming it back from you on the doorstep when they come to deliver. Sneaky eh?
