Ok, I am planning to upgrade my black n white laserjet printer. Anyone has experience with Color Laserjets ? How good is the color ? I heard that they tend to be darker, is that true ?

What is the advantage of having a color laserjet over color ink/deskjet ?

Would anyone like to recommend a good color laserjet/deskjet ?

I kept on hearing about how good the canon i950 printer. Anyone has experience with this printer ? Is it worth the price difference with i850 ?

How about a printer from HP ? Any recommendation ? If I have to choose between the following, which one should I choose ?
- HP color laserjet 2500L
- Minolta magicolor 2300DL
- HP deskjet 6122
- Canon i850
- Canon i950

One last question, the color laserjets maxed at 2400x600 dpi, while the deskjets are already at 4800x1200 dpi. Is it correct to assume that the deskjets are producing better quality printouts ?

Thanks...

IMHO, and that's all it is, Speed and Volume (that's quantity not noise :) )

I have inkjets at home, color lasers at work. I think the quality of printout is comparable, especially considering the price difference. Now don't anybody go comparing a $120 Inkjet to a $5000 Laser. I'm thinking of a decent quality inkjet and an affordable laser. BUT, if you need that powerpoint presentation printed out for the meeting in 5 minutes, only use the inkjet if there is only one slide. (Of course if the laser isn't warmed up, it takes 5 minutes for the first slide to print ;))

Do take a look at the price of supplies on each type and the number of pages claim. Even a $100 inkjet will cost you $50 to change the cartridges. I fortunately don't pay for the toner at work, so can't comment on that.

P.S. The money you save on an inkjet...spend it on decent paper.

My 2 Cents...

What are you going to be printing? Photographs and pictures? Go with a nice quality ink jet. High volumes of prints with some color charts / graphs / presentations. Consider the color laser. For much less than what you would spend on a color laser you can get a very nice 8 cartridge ink jet print. (I have/do use both, BTW.)

I will be mostly printing color brochures in large quantity.

It is so funny to see that the HP color laserjet 2500L is priced around $800, and the price of the 4 toners (black, cyan, etc.) is around $400. So the printer itself (without the toner) is actually only $400. Someone should make cheaper toner !

8 cartridge inkjet ? What is the brand/model ? Thanks.
