The only thing I'm using to get WiFi is a USB WiFi adapter. Cost me around the price of a BT dongle.

Consider that if all you want to do is connect your PPC to your PC, that is what BT is made for, and does it at significantly less power than WiFi. You typically can Sync and transfer file over BT and generally can also use AS Passthrough to surf.

WiFi can do those items as well but does have a bigger power hit, though it gives you greater range and throughput for that. The advantage is that it is really designed with networking in mind, giving rise to the proliferation of WiFi hotspots.

Given that the X3 has WiFi and not BT though, WiFi would be cheaper since you only need the PC component.

My wifi router cost me about $70 I think but that was 6 months ago, I'm sure they are cheaper now.

I have the Netgear MR814v2, and it's given me no problems. It's easy to use - I managed to set it up without any prior knowledge of WiFi. Amazon has a great price here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006HYKM/ref=e_hp_rs_8_3//104-7399603-2970304?v=glance&s=electronics&n=172282).
