theres loads of posts about this topic, ive put a few up too as im having the same problem since the upgrade. Ive mailed Micro$oft several time but no support at all yet, just mail back saying the are looking into it ! well thats good of them, afterall, the forced us to upgrade in the first place.

Same problem here. I've got a 15k long ping pong mail with no real answer from them.

Have you installed ALL the latest H5555 updates? There's also the WLAN and latest firmware update. Ever since the updates (WLAN, firmware, MSN), I have been able to successfully connect to MSN through my Wired/Wireless LAN at home. Prior to that, I could only connect on an open network.

First let me say thank you to all of you who have posted possible fixes for mine and other owners of the H5555 who have had the same problem. it shows how needed groups like this one is.
Second before anyone else tries the "if everything else fails, hard reset" give this a go. I found out the hardway after resetting everything and installing the ROM Update twice. What I did is basically the non-physical bang it with something fix.
1. open MSN Messenger
2. go to "Tools>Options>Accounts
3. check the "Enable Exchange Instant Messaging" Box
4. use the same information as you use to log into MSN Messenger (i.e. Username and Password) and change
5. tap ok and then try to sign in
6. if your sign in information did not pop up, just fill it in. Then press sign in
7. the main sign in screen for messenger will come back up and you will get a "Cannon Connect" message.
8. Press Dismiss and go back to "Tools>Options>Accounts"
9. Uncheck "Enable Exchange Instant Messaging" and check "Enable MSN Messenger Service"
10. Hit sign in and you should be on.
Good Luck!

hello all,
I too have just been able to connect via my 3970 to messenger and i did it adifferent way to the above.
1. remove the messenger from ipaq using "remove programs" not via active sync.
2. on ipaq, go into file explorer and remove the instmsgr file, i also removed the icon from the ipaq.
3. remove the messenger update from you pc by runing the setup file again and removing.
4. reset you ipaq
5. connect ipaq to pc with active sync
6. run setup of messenger
7. follow all the instructions including the ipaq reset.
8. go back into the ipaq file explorer and click on instmsger file which is now back due to the re install.
now im in !!!! and working fine !!!
hope it works for all you chaps
( or have Micro$oft finally done something and not told us ???)
