Issues with 512mb SD with iPAQ 3970..

I've been using a 512mb SD card (SimpleTech) for a few months now.

Lately, the card produces an error when writing to it (either in the IPAQ or via my SD card reader attached to PC).

Contacting SimpleTech (it has a lifetime warranty), they state that the iPAQ can only using up to 256mb SD memory/storage, yet the 512mb has worked for me for several months.

Nowhere on HP's site do I find reference to this limitation (I used to have a 1gb CF microdrive until it went bad).

I think that's nonsense. I have been using a Lexar 512 Mb card for months now with no such limitations, although I have had a few problems with accessing Mobipocket books stored on the card. Music, video other files stored work perfectly, and I currently only have 185 Mb free, so clearly the iPaq has no issues with seeing over 256 Mb....

I could be wrong of course, but I find it difficult to believe their excuse. They are probably trying to get around having to replace your card, the usual thing.
