View Full Version : tracking progress, milestones, etc - how are you doing it? (very newb here)

Funny, I never thought of it before, but I have dozens of tasks and it's just a stupid list of crap-to-do. Much of, particulary work stuff, constitutes a larger project or objective. Is there some workaround/hack/solution to being able to track milestones, contacts, etc? Wow, that would be nice.

By the way, I'm new to the pocketpc, and it's kind of a adventure. I've never adopted an OS with such a surprising lack of useful freeware! 5 bucks here, and 15 there. It adds up. So far, I'm terribly frustrated. I have to soft reset my e355 several times a day (but I'm still messing around too), pocketplus address serious issues that MS should have... I couldn't believe how cumbersome it was to close running applications! I'm from Palm, and it's still better (robust) then they are, so this isn't a slanted observation. Just some frustration with a sophisicated tool.

And! (sorry), anyone know how to keep Pocket Explorer from asking for network setting every time it's launched from Journal Bar?

Oh thanks much for reading through all of this, and your input is very appreciated.

I recommend Pocket Informant (www.pocketinformant.com) for this. There's also Agenda Fusion (www.developerone.com/demo/fusion5.htm) and a few others I can't remember at this moment as well.

Never heard of this one. The only thing I can think of is possibly it's trying to open the network instead of the local filesystem. Try tapping on the Pocket PC icon on the bottom bar when you're in File Explorer and see what happens next time you open it.

Hi benca1,

I did a quick search and came up a few options. I've listed them below. I might add that I haven't tried any of these out yet. I too am interested in getting a project management program on my PPC.

1.) Project Tracker by Newday Software (http://www.freewebs.com/newdaysoftware/products.htm)
2.) cyProj by cyWren Systems (http://www.cywren.com/cyproj.html)
3.) Project Manager 2.0 (http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=10397&associateid=262)

Hope this helps. I think I'm gonna give Project Tracker a go. Looks pretty good...

Thanks much. I tried out Fusion for a bit and found it awkward, a memory pig, and it hardly works within the current software; sometimes I would use regular tasks versus a 'fusion task.' Same with appointments, etc. Didn't stumble into any goal progress or project tracking features... maybe I'll try to find some online documentation and reconsider.

Thanks much for links Dimension.

Another option is Metal Shard's Simple Task Tracker. I've found it pretty useful myself.
