I recently got an iPAQ 1945. The form factor is perfect, the speed is great, but... It has the dreaded (and expected I guess) yellow screen.
I'm not trying to re-live any arguments about how bad the screen really is, but for me, I just can't live with it. I'm finding that the screen is constantly going from yellow to white as I adjust the angle that I'm viewing it at. It's just too distracting.
So, I called HP's customer service. They said they could replace the screen, and are sending me a box to mail my iPAQ back to them. Expected turn around is 3-5 days, once they get the package back.
I personally have my doubts if this will do any good. Since it seems like almost every 1935 and 1945 have yellow screens, (and someone just reporting that their 4150 has a yellow screen too), I wonder if they're really going to fix it. I pressed the rep about it, and he assured me that HP had a new batch of screens in that would fix the problem... We'll see.
If I could just get a good screen, this will be the most amazing handheld ever! If not, I will have no choice but to send it back to Amazon (where I ordered it from) and probably get a Dell Axim X3.
Has anyone else sent a 1935 / 1945 back to HP and had the yellow screen fixed?
I'll post a follow up and let you know how my experience turns out.

I really don't think that getting HP to replace the screen will help, because it's gonna be the same type of screen - yellow. You should check out the software tweak posted on these boards a few weeks/months ago about how to significantly decrease the yellow tint.

I already tried the software fix...
It really doesn't work that well. In some places it decreases (though not really fixes) the yellow hues, but in many other programs (Pocket Bible, IE, Inbox), it just doesn't work at all. The programmers must not have used system colors in those programs.
I tried convincing myself that the yellow wasn't that bad, but after a few days, I just had to admit that if I'm going to pay around $300 (which is a great price, but still my money), I'm going to demand a screen that doesn't make whites look yellow!

 Well, the short of it is that HP wouldn't fix the problem. I hadn't gotten my package to ship it back to them (which I expected by now), so I called customer support back.
After speaking to a jerk that I could hardly understand, I demanded to speak to his supervisor. The supervisor was polite, and explained that the guy I'd talked to originally was mistaken that they could fix the unit. He said that all the screen's they have are the same and that replacing my screen wouldn't help.
I kind of expected this, but I thought it might be worth a shot, especially when the original guy said they could fix it.
I just can't believe that this amazing handheld gets "ruined" by a yellow screen, especially when it's predecessor apparently had the best screen so far on a PPC.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to send the unit back to amazon for a refund. The yellow screen just doesn't make it fun to read for long times on my iPAQ.
I've started another thread asking for advice on what I should get. I'm leaning towards the 2215. For those with a soft spot in their heart for helping confused people, you can see the thread here:

I know, they employ a lot of foreign relations people, who cant really speak without an accent, therefore making it VERY hard to understand. Thats the affirmative action program for you, but its not their fault.
I also dont like it when they all tell you something different! :(

Ok, After reading this, it got me thinking.
Is Understanding Someone really too much to ask? I'd like to think of myself as accepting & respectful of other cultures, and if I travel to foreign countries, I certaintly don't expect them to change their accent or manner of speaking just to accomodate me, but when I'm calling from my home in the US, I'd like to speak to someone I can understand on the phone! Its embarassing for both them and I to have to constantly repeat things.
Am I wrong in this?

No. Its acceptable if you are a hard working citizen from another country trying to make a living, but customer relations wont be your best thing. Im not saying that all foreigners speak with an accent that no one can understand.
